FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – As portions of 32nd Avenue in Fargo reopens, a local business details how they were impacted and how they’re bouncing back.

Crews have just completed the first phase of the reconstruction project along 32nd Avenue, a months-long project affecting several local shops.

Valley News Live previously spoke to them, and checked back in today, June 19, as the city moves forward into phase two.

Cassie Kouba, General Manager of Woody’s Bar & Grill, says, “Trying to get people in here the last couple months has been hard. The only way to get in was through the Hornbacher’s parking lot.”

She says customer traffic significantly decreased as a result of the road closures and detours.

“When people see those orange and white cones, they get scared and they get intimidated. They wonder, how am I going to get around this and they end up missing us… it just hasn’t been real convenient,” the bar manager explained.

Cassie says with parts of the road now open, things are returning back to normal. She labels the construction as a ‘necessary evil’ for shops along 32nd Avenue, and works towards creative advertising to draw people in.

“We do coupons and we share back and forth some of those advertisement ideas with other businesses. Don’t forget about us, O’Reilly’s, Boys and Girls Ranch, and other shops along this road!” she says.

They’re looking to keep business flowing – all summer long. Woody’s plans to throw themed parties throughout the completion of each construction phase.

“We’re going to throw a party every single time a phase opens! We’re just going to have parties all summer long!” Cassie adds.

The entire project is expected to wrap up mid-October of 2025.
