Health focused café raises a toast to new location in the Block 5 building
Toastique is a health-focused cafe in downtown Rapid City. The cafe originated on the East Coast in 2018 and now operates in the new Block 5 building. Toastique will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m daily, seven days a week. It will offer smoothie bowls, gourmet toasts, cold-pressed juices, and smoothies. All of its materials are compostable, so they break down in the landfill, the owner said. The restaurant is owned by two franchisees from South Dakota, Hayley and Adam Kaemingk.
“There’s not a whole lot of quick grab-and-go places downtown that are healthy. So, we thought that this would be the perfect fit for the new Block 5 development and our downtown community,” Adam Kaemingk, owner of Toastique Black Hills, said.
Although the cafe isn’t from the Black Hills, it is owned by franchisees from South Dakota.
“We’re both born and raised South Dakotans. I’m West River, he’s East River so we’re a perfect pair,” Hayley Kaemingk, owner of Toastique Black Hills, said.
The cafe originated on the East Coast in 2018 and now operates in the new Block 5 building.
“It’s just that healthy aspect of fueling your bodies. So when we looked into that we thought it would be a perfect fit for Rapid City and we wanted to bring that here to our local community,” Hayley said.
The health-focused cafe only offers the good stuff.
“We have all natural ingredients. There’s no added sugars, there’s no additives, and so everything we have we make in house,” Adam said.
You can find items made daily such as smoothie bowls, gourmet toasts, cold-pressed juices, and smoothies. On top of the health aspect, everything is eco-friendly.
“All of our materials are compostable, so they break down in the landfill. All the glass we use we offer a recycling credit for it, so you can bring it back and we reuse it again,” Adam said.
Toastique keeps a core menu and will add seasonal items.
“We do toasts of the month so you’ll see that if you follow us on Instagram or Facebook,” Hayley said.
Toastique is officially set to open at 8 a.m. this Saturday.
“We’re going to be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, seven days a week,” Hayley said.
