Spring is here and there is plenty to do in and around Eugene, Springfield and the rest of Lane County. From egg hunts to festivals to Sunday brunch, here is a list of some of the major happenings scheduled across the region. The egg hunts are divided into age-specific groups: 2 years old and younger at 10:00 a.m. Preschoolers and first graders at 10.40 a.M. Second and third graders and fourth, fifth and sixth graders. at 11:20 a. M. The Easter Bunny, Bluey, and other special guests will be available for photo ops. The event will also have piñatas, face painting, a coloring contest, a prize raffle basket and an appearance from the Easter Bunny. There will be separate areas for younger children to do their egg hunt and a free, 10,000-piece egg hunt for kids 12 and younger. The hunt features over 5,000 eggs and will be held at Willamette Christian Center.

Lone Oak Assisted Living is hosting an egg hunt for kids 15 and younger. The “Eggstravaganza” Hunt will have 1,000 eggs to find. The event will also have piñatas, face painting, a coloring contest, a prize raffle basket and an appearance from the Easter Bunny. Hot dogs and sodas will be available for purchase. This event is free, but bring your own basket for the egg hunt.

“Megga” Hunt at Lively Park in Springfield

In a celebration of springtime, Willamalane is hosting Springfield’s “biggest annual egg hunt event.” There are five different egg hunt options, with inclusive options for all ages and abilities.

Preregistration is required. For Springfield residents, it costs $6 to participate and $8 for nonresidents. Children under 1 year old are not required to register to participate. Registration is also not required for people who will not participate in egg hunts.

Easter Breakfast Youth Benefit at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eugene

Bethesda Lutheran Church is offering a free light breakfast of fruit, pastries and coffee before and after its morning Easter Sunday service. The church will be accepting donations to help fund its youth group summer trips.

Sandy Mountain Festival

Local nonprofits are also typically on site to sell refreshments, and the city of Sandy will host events throughout the week/weekend to accompany the festival.

Strawberry Waffle Breakfast

The Boring-Damascus Grange members will serve up their well known strawberry waffles with locally sourced berries and multiple options for beverages.

Breakfast (including seconds) is $12 for adults and free for children ages 6 and under. And there is a family rate of $56.

Proceeds benefit the Grange to go toward needed maintenance and renovations to the Grange hall, which is a space open for community use.

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Bemidji welcomed Benjamin Zamzow as its new pastor in July. The Cass Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a baked ham dinner with homemade potato salad, baked beans, dessert, and beverages on Sunday, Sept. 23. St. Theodore’s Catholic Church will hold a harvest sale and luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 6. All Pro Dads will be hosting a Dad’s Day Breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 29 at St. Philip’s Catholic church, located at 702 Beltrami Ave. NW in BemIDJI. A Fall Booya supper will be held at the Northome Senior Center, 12081 Lake St. NE, on Oct.6 at 4 p.m., with proceeds going to local food programs, youth and elder activities and the Northwoods Caregivers. There will also be a Polka Mass and Chicken Dinner in Kelliher, and a Community Meal at Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck.

Zamzow joins St. Mark’s Lutheran

BEMIDJI-St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Bemidji welcomed Benjamin Zamzow as its new pastor in July.

Benjamin Zamzow

Zamzow grew up in Wisconsin and attended Antigo Public High School. He graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., in 2014 and began studying at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary that fall.

He spent his pastoral internship in Grove City, Ohio, and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in May 2018 with a Master of Divinity degree.

Zamzow and his wife, Marina, have two children.

St. Theodore’s Catholic Church plans Harvest Sale

LAPORTE-St. Theodore’s Catholic Church will host a harvest sale and luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. The meal will include soup, sandwiches, bars and coffee. Immanuel Lutheran Church to host ham dinner

This free event is open to all fathers, uncles, grandfathers and their children and will feature breakfast and a short activity.

NORTHOME-St. Michael Church on Northome will host a Fall Booya supper at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Northome Senior Center, 12081 Lake St. The supper includes hearty bowls of booya, homemade bread, pickles and dessert. Take-out is available.

Polka Mass and Chicken Dinner in Kelliher

KELLIHER-St. Patrick’s Catholic Church’s Polka Mass and Chicken Dinner will be held 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Mass will be at 10:15 a.m. Music by the Cathy Erickson Band. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 and older and free for children 5 and younger. There also will be a Farmers Market and Bake Sale. Trinity Free Lutheran Ham Dinner

WILTON-Trinity Free Lutheran Church, 6 miles north of U.S. Highway 2 on state Highway 89, will hold its annual Ham Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. There will be a freewill offering.

Feast of Tabernacles at Mount Zion

BEMIDJI-Mount Zion Church and Becida Community Church of Bemidji invite everyone to a special time of worship, celebration and ministry during the Feast of Tabernacles, Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29.

On Friday evening and all day Saturday there will be a “Feast of Faith, Food, and Fellowship” at Mount Zion Church, 414 Lincoln Ave. SE in the Nymore neighborhood of Bemidji.

BEMIDJI-The 16th annual Meatball Dinner and silent auction at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7.

The menu will be meatballs with all the trimmings, including squash and pie. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 and older and free from children age 5 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door. A silent auction to benefit TLC Preschool and Growing Tree Learning Center will also be held.
