Troy church plants trees to foster environmental sustainability
The World Mission Society Church of God hosted a tree planting event at their location in Troy, Sunday. The effort sought to raise awareness on heightened global attention to the climate crisis. The location was chosen to support and strengthen the community’s sustainability initiatives.
As part of the Church of God’s global ‘Forest of Hope’ campaign, 25 volunteers planted 17 trees provided by NYS DOT and NYSTEC, with planting material donated by Home Depot. The effort sought to raise awareness on heightened global attention to the climate crisis and the need for environmental protection. The location was chosen to support and strengthen the community’s sustainability initiatives.
Opening the event, Assemblymember Gabriella Romero delivered remarks commending the volunteers for their dedication to environmental sustainability and coming together to do something positive for the community.
“When you have events like this that create community where you know you can feel joy and feel hope and faith, I think that’s really powerful …”, stated Romero.
