Free health screenings bring vital care to rural Wayne County kids
The Get Ready to GROW Program will host screenings for children ages one to five. The event aims to ensure that developmental or health-related delays are identified and addressed as early as possible. The program is supported by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s Health Equity Innovation Initiatives and is designed to overcome barriers in communities where access to care can be limited.
The Get Ready to GROW Program will host screenings for children ages one to five on Wednesday, June 25, at Cuyler Elementary School in Red Creek. Families in the Red Creek Central School District are invited to attend the event, which includes vision, hearing, dental, speech, and motor development assessments.
The program is supported by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s Health Equity Innovation Initiatives and is designed to overcome barriers in communities where access to care can be limited by geography, finances, or systemic challenges.
“This initiative is a powerful example of health equity in action—bringing essential care directly to families who need it most,” according to a media advisory announcing the event.
Health professionals, educators, and program leaders will be on hand during the two-hour event, scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Media are invited to observe the screenings, interview families, and witness the program’s impact in real time.
Organizers say follow-up support is also available for families whose children may require additional care. The event aims to ensure that developmental or health-related delays are identified and addressed as early as possible.
