The launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying an assortment of payloads from Vandenberg Space Force Base won’t occur until Monday at the earliest.

The 57-minute launch window for the Transporter-14 mission opens at 2:18 p.m. Monday, according to SpaceX.

“Due to unfavorable weather, now targeting Monday, June 23, for launch of the Transporter-14 mission from California,” SpaceX said.

While SpaceX didn’t spell out the weather worry, Santa Barbara County has seen high winds in recent days.

Sunday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high temperature near 66 degrees. But, the forecast also includes northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The first-stage booster, making its 26th flight, will land on a droneship about eight minutes after the rocket’s departure from Vandenberg.

Transporter-14 involves a dedicated smallsat rideshare mission made up of 70 payloads, including cubesats, microsats, re-entry capsules, and orbital transfer vehicles carrying three of those payloads to be deployed at a later time.

Deployment will begin 54 minutes after liftoff and end 2 hours, 44 minutes after the rocket’s departure.

To watch the liftoff in person, the Lompoc Valley has multiple locations offering views of the launch pad. Those include the peak of Harris Grade Road, west of Lompoc’s city limits and around Vandenberg Village, including near the intersection of Moonglow and Stardust roads.

A live webcast of the mission is scheduled to begin about 15 minutes before liftoff at spacex.com/launches and on X @SpaceX.
