It also utilizes Samsung’s updated “Over the Horizon” theme, though the portion used just feels ripped straight out of Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey.
Samsung’s event won’t be solely about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, though. The company is also set to launch a new series of smartwatches including the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), while teasers are also underway for new earbuds. .

Ahead of the launch, Samsung has opened up its usual reservations on its website. Reservations are obligation-free and don’t require any form of deposit. Simply input your email and Samsung will have a $50 credit available at the time you purchase its new devices from its website.
The credit is typically used for accessories – such as a Galaxy Watch 8 – but Samsung has occasionally allowed the credit to be used towards the cost of the device itself. This time around, we’re told it’s good for “ecosystem purchases” such as accessories and other Galaxy devices. A reservation tied to your Samsung account will also mean you can get a 3x multiplier for points in Samsung’s reward program and used to redeem select benefits. Samsung will also hand out a $5,000 prize to one winner who places a reservation, even if that person doesn’t buy a device.
Samsung is also teasing up to $1,150 in savings with trade-ins and other promos.
Reservations are open starting today and will be available through July 8, just prior to Samsung’s event. They’re only available through Samsung’s website.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a major upgrade to Samsung’s book-style foldable. Updated and much thinner hardware, new cameras, and bigger displays are just a few of the key improvements in the works. Galaxy Z Flip 7 also gets a big upgrade to its cover display which is thought to match the Motorola Razr. Meanwhile, Galaxy Watch 8 delivers a new design.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: New Leaks Reveal Major Upgrades
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is set to make a significant impact on the foldable smartphone market. With a sleeker design, enhanced camera technology, and refined display features, this latest model addresses previous shortcomings while introducing meaningful improvements. Scheduled for its official unveiling in July, the event will also highlight the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, emphasizing Samsung’s commitment to a cohesive and innovative ecosystem. The video below from TechTalkTV gives us more information on the new Galaxy Z fold 7. The launch event is scheduled for July 9th at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. The Galaxy Flip 7 will also be unveiled at the same event, with a larger outer display, similar to the Moto Razr, which enhances functionality and usability. It will be available in three standard color options: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow, with the possibility of exclusive colors being introduced after the initial launch.
Design Enhancements: Slimmer, Yet Functional
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a thinner and more streamlined profile compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This design evolution reflects Samsung’s focus on portability and aesthetics. However, the slimmer body comes with a minor trade-off: a slightly more pronounced camera bump. Inspired by the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the camera module adopts a floating lens design without traditional camera rings, creating a minimalist yet functional appearance. These design choices aim to balance visual appeal with practical usability, catering to users who prioritize both style and functionality in their devices.
Camera Technology: Prioritizing Quality Over Seamlessness
Samsung has made a bold decision to replace the under-display front camera with a larger 4MP sensor. While this adjustment introduces a visible hole in the inner display, it significantly improves image quality for selfies and video calls. This trade-off prioritizes functionality over an uninterrupted screen, appealing to users who value sharper visuals over seamless aesthetics. Additionally, advancements in folding display materials are expected to reduce the screen crease, addressing a common concern among foldable device users and enhancing the overall user experience.
Display and Durability: Refining the Experience
Despite earlier speculation, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 retains the same bezel dimensions as its predecessor. However, Samsung has refined its folding glass technology to improve durability and minimize creasing. These incremental upgrades aim to provide a smoother and more reliable folding experience, addressing durability concerns that have historically been a challenge for foldable smartphones. By focusing on these refinements, Samsung continues to enhance the long-term usability of its foldable devices.
Color and Storage Options: Familiar Yet Flexible
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be available in three standard color options: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow. These choices cater to a diverse range of user preferences, with the possibility of exclusive colors being introduced after the initial launch. Storage configurations remain consistent with the previous model, offering ample space for apps, media, and files. This ensures the device meets the needs of both casual users and those requiring higher storage capacities for professional or creative purposes.
Galaxy Flip 7: A Foldable Companion
Launching alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Flip 7 introduces its own set of updates. Its standout feature is a larger outer display, similar to the Moto Razr, which enhances functionality and usability. The thinner and wider design raises intriguing possibilities for its compatibility with full Android apps, potentially reshaping how users interact with foldable devices. This companion device highlights Samsung’s dedication to innovation across its foldable lineup, offering users more options to suit their preferences and needs.
Launch Event Details
Samsung’s highly anticipated launch event is scheduled for July 9th at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the event will showcase the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, providing a glimpse into Samsung’s evolving ecosystem. This event represents a pivotal moment for the company as it continues to push the boundaries of foldable technology and expand its influence in the tech industry.
Refining the Foldable Experience
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 represents a thoughtful evolution in foldable smartphone design, combining aesthetics, functionality, and user experience. While some changes, such as the removal of the under-display camera, may spark debate, the overall improvements demonstrate Samsung’s dedication to refining its foldable lineup. With its launch just around the corner, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is poised to capture the attention of tech enthusiasts and set new standards in the foldable smartphone market.

Note that reserving a device will not only secure a guaranteed place in line once these devices are available for preorder (usually directly after Samsung Unpacked), but also receive $50 of Samsung Store credit. That can be supremely handy for scoring some cheap accessories like earbuds or chargers.

More durable designs
Slightly bigger screens with smaller bezels
Camera and chipset upgrades for the Fold 7
Take all rumors on these new devices with a pinch of salt. We won’t know anything for sure until the devices are officially unveiled at Samsung Unpacked.
With that said, there are quite a few rumors circulating right now on both of these upcoming devices. Firstly, Samsung has confirmed that its upcoming foldable devices (highly likely the Fold 7 and Flip 7) will feature enhanced durability and refined designs. Leaks have suggested that these devices will feature a more slimline build with reduced display bezels for both the main and front display.
In terms of hardware, the Flip 7 may retain the same cameras as the Flip 6 (50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP selfie), but improvements to Samsung’s latest AI features are expected to provide a computational uplift. The device will almost certainly get Android 16 alongside potential improvements to the chipset, RAM, battery, and storage.
Rumors suggest that the Fold 7 may receive a few more significant upgrades than its sibling. Firstly, we think it’s almost certain that Samsung will opt for the powerful new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset that’s in the latest Galaxy S25 series, alongside potential upgrades to RAM and storage. A few leaks have also mentioned a 200MP main sensor, which would bring the Fold 7 in line with the Galaxy S25’s camera array.
