Harold Jay Lane was born on July 1, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas. He was a graduate of Topeka High School in 1972. Lane held roles on the Topeka City Council and as a state representative. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Lane; his daughter, Laurie Lane; and his son, Daniel.
According to a press release from Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Harold Jay Lane departed this life peacefully at Midland Care Hospice House on Sunday.
Lane was born on July 1, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas.
Harold grew up working at Lane’s, the family grocery store that eventually transformed into Lane’s BBQ restaurant.
Lane held roles on the Topeka City Council and as a state representative in Topeka.
He was a graduate of Topeka High School in 1972. Harold pursued further education at Kaw Valley College, where he studied HVAC at the trade school.
Harold had the opportunity to meet notable figures such as renowned television chef Bobby Flay and Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Jane Lane; his daughter, Laurie Lane; and his son, Daniel (Rosemary) Lane. He was a grandfather to Ava, Ryan, Adam Oesterreich, and Autumn and Aaron Lane. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene H. Lane Jr., and sister, Nancy Gierach.
According to the release, cremation is planned, and there will be no services.
