MIAMI – Robbery detectives with the Miami Police Department are searching for a man who they said was caught on camera robbing a business at knifepoint earlier this month, making off with cash and a gold bracelet worth thousands of dollars.

The armed robbery happened around 10:45 a.m. on June 2 at a business located near the 5900 block of Southwest Eighth Street in the Flagami neighborhood.

According to MPD officials, an employee was opening for the day when she noticed a man waiting outside the front door. Thinking he was a potential customer, she let him in.

Police said the man initially posed as a customer, asked questions, then pulled out a silver knife, pressed it against the victim, and demanded money.

While “fearing for her life,” authorities said the employee gave the suspect the only $30 in the store.

As the man became increasingly agitated, they said she reached into her purse and handed over an additional $200 of her own money.

Investigators said the suspect then demanded the victim’s gold bracelet, which she said is worth about $5,000, before fleeing eastbound on Southwest Eighth Street.

They said surveillance video captured the incident and described the suspect as a Hispanic male between 65 and 68 years old, approximately 5-foot-5 with a medium build and clean-shaven face.

Police said he was last seen wearing a white shirt and light blue jeans and spoke with a Cuban accent.
