iCloud was down — live updates on Apple outage hitting Photos, Mail and more
The outage began around 11:30 a.m. Pacific and lasted for over 5 hours. iCloud Web Apps, Find My, Photos, and more were all affected. Apple has not yet responded to our request for comment.
The outage prevented people from accessing services connected to iCloud like Photos and iMessage such that they couldn’t sync or download.
The problems began around 11:30 a.m. Pacific/2:30 p.m. Eastern.
A quick glance at the Apple Status page revealed a mix of products went down, including iCloud Web Apps, Find My, Photos, and more.
While reports slowed down from an initial peak of around 900 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific, it was a steady decline. And the Apple status page didn’t officially return to normal until around 4:15 p.m. Pacific.
In all the the outage lasted for just over 5 hours.
Tom’s Guide reached out to Apple to find out what happened or how people could get around their services being interrupted. We will update if the company responds.
