All-Central New York High School Sports Awards 2025: Meet the coaches of the year

Liverpool, N.Y. — Scott Cotter of Marcellus boys basketball and Laurie Updike of Marcellus girls soccer were named coaches of the year Tuesday night at the 2025 syracuse.com All-CNY High School Sports Awards show at Liverpool High School.
After coming up just short a season ago, Cotter led the Mustangs to their first-ever state championship this winter. Cotter’s Mustangs compiled a 24-4 record and dominated all season, outscoring opponents by over 400 points. He was also named the All-CNY small school boys basketball coach of the year.
