The Kansas City Chiefs are once again considered contenders heading into the 2025 season, and Patrick Mahomes remains a key player in the franchise’s success.

Following an uncharacteristic 2024 season that saw the two-time league MVP not make the Pro Bowl, Mahomes was still selected as the top quarterback going into 2025 by Yahoo! Sports.

NFL analyst Nate Tice made the call to rank Mahomes over reigning league MVP Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson. The Chiefs won the AFC Championship game for the third consecutive season and were a victory away from completing the first Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history.

Mahomes finished 2024 with 3,928 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Last season was his first as a starter without 4,000 passing yards.

The Chiefs’ offense has been vocal throughout offseason workouts about being more explosive and scoring big points in 2025. Mahomes will likely see a resurgent performance this season with the potential for a third career MVP award.
