Georgia to see record July Fourth travel: Here’s what to expect

AAA expects nearly 2.3 million Georgians to hit the road, skies and rails – up almost 68,000 (2.9%) from last year.
Here’s a breakdown:
Driving: More than 2 million Georgians will take a road trip (up 59,000, or 2.9%, from last year).
Flying: Nearly 164,000 Georgians will fly domestically (up 1,500, or 2.9%, from last year).
Other modes: Nearly 104,000 Georgians will take buses, trains, or cruises (up 7,000, or 7%, from last year).
AAA projects 72.2 million Americans will travel domestically, an increase of 1.7 million (2.4%) over last year and 7 million more than in 2019. AAA says 61.6 million of those travelers will drive, 5.84 million will fly and nearly 4.78 million people will travel by bus, train, or cruise.
Gas prices are likely to fluctuate in the lead-up to Independence Day, according to AAA.

While analysts suggest this may be a short-term reaction, it’s too early to know whether prices will stabilize before the holiday.
At the world’s busiest airport
If you’re one of the millions of travelers passing through Atlanta’s airport, plan on getting there early.
More than 4 million passengers are expected to travel through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – the world’s busiest – from Thursday through July 7.

Officials are urging passengers to arrive at least 2½ hours before their departure times for domestic flights and three hours for international flights.
“It looks a little crowded, but you can go straight through,” said Nolan Hollaway, who was traveling to south Florida. “Get here early and take a picture of where you park.”
Passengers who require wheelchair assistance or have Americans with Disabilities Act requirements should add 30 minutes to those arrival times.
