Man gets death penalty for murdering six members of neighbour’s family in Vizag
The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court on Friday awarded the death penalty to a 50-year-old man. Appala Raju was convicted of murdering six members of his neighbour’s family, including two children, at V. Juttada village under Pendurthi police station limits in April 2021. Judge M. Nageswara Rao also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the convict.

Additional Public Prosecutor of the case, M. Khajana Rao said that Appala Raju killed six members of a family, including three women and two children, over a personal grudge on April 15, 2021.
Appalaraju’s daughter used to move closely with his neighbour Vijay Kiran. Differences cropped up between both families after Appalaraju lodged a police complaint in 2018.
Sometime later, Vijay Kiran moved to Vijayawada. He, along with his family members, came to V. Juttada on May 13, 2021 to attend a marriage function of their relative.
Appalaraju killed Vijay Kiran’s father B. Ramana (61), wife B. Usha Rani (31), son B. Uday Nandan (3), daughter B. Lishitha (six months), mother-in-law Allu Ramadevi (47), and N. Aruna (46), a relative of Usha Rani, when they all were asleep. Vijay Kiran and his elder son escaped as they were not in the house at the time of the murder.
