Damage to chiropractic business in northwest G.I. described as catastrophic
Water flooded the interior of Active Family Chiropractic and Acupuncture at 2441 Diers Ave. June 26. An employee of the business, Jenna Rivera, described the damage as “catastrophic.” She said the business hopes to reopen the Diers Avenue location in four to six weeks. The business is southwest of the intersection of Highway 281 and Capital Avenue.
Jenna Rivera, an employee of the business, described the damage as “catastrophic.”
Employees were busy in the morning June 27 carrying furniture out of the building and loading it into a trailer. The business is southwest of the intersection of Highway 281 and Capital Avenue. Although some nearby businesses such as Viero were open, a number of other businesses were closed in the morning June 27.
They included Denver Mattress and a strip mall just west of it that has stores such as Verizon and Supercuts.
Rivera said yesterday there was two to three feet of water in the parking lot, and a foot of water in the building.
“I started getting texts at 1 a.m. (June 26),” Rivera said.
Staff members weren’t aware of the condition of the building until 6:30 a.m. June 26.
Rivera said that one of the business’s chiropractors put on hip waders, parked a distance from the building and walked over to it to assess the damage.
Rivera estimated that four inches of drywall would need to be removed on the interior. Paul Davis Restoration was scheduled to arrive later in the day on June 26.
She said that the location’s chiropractors have temporarily relocated to the business’s other site at 705 N. Webb Road.
She said the business hopes to reopen the Diers Avenue location in four to six weeks.
“We appreciate all of the support of our patients and local community,” Rivera said.
