Lonzo Ball is officially leaving the Windy City.
After spending a few years with the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans, the UCLA product signed a four-year, $85 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. His stint with the Bulls started off with so much promise, but injuries ultimately derailed his career for a few years.

Although he’s finally healthy, Chicago is ready to move on from Ball. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Bulls are trading the talented point guard to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaac Okoro.
Ball appeared in 35 games this past season, averaging 7.6 points and 3.3 assists per contest. When he was healthy during the 2021-22 season, he averaged 13.0 points and 5.1 assists per game for the Bulls.
Okoro, meanwhile, averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Cavaliers this past season.
This trade has to be bittersweet for Ball, who expressed nothing but gratitude for the front office and coaching staff during his time in Chicago.

“The overall picture for the doctor being here to having dealt with the rehab process for me, the relationship I have with the front office, the coaching staff, the young guys, so it kind of all made sense for me to stay,” Ball said earlier this year. “That’s what I wanted ultimately and it ended coming to. The process we already built, the rehab. I feel we’ve been progressing well and are on the same page. I don’t want to go to a new organization and start that all over really. I’m happy they gave me the contract and I’m happy to be here.”

“This trade having no draft capital is wild,” a second fan wrote.
“There is no way Lonzo Ball and Isaac Okoro got the same trade value,” another fan said.
“How does Lonzo fit in Cleveland this trades doesn’t make sense unless they reroute him somewhere else,” a social media user argued.
It’ll be fascinating to see what role the Cavaliers have planned for Ball.
In theory, Ball will get a fresh start to showcase his skills in Cleveland. However, he’ll join a backcourt that already features Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.
Regardless of Ball’s role, we just want the former No. 2 overall pick to stay healthy for the entire 2025-26 season.
