Rochester, N.Y. — A new facility dedicated to educating refugees on their legal rights and mental health resources has opened its doors on South Plymouth Avenue.

The organization, Mental Health Education & Legal Code for Refugee Rights Incorporated, aims to bridge the gap between refugees and mental health professionals.

“There’s a big stigma, there’s a barrier between the mental health population and physicians collaborating and working with refugees. So, we want to break that,” said Hani Ali, the organization’s executive director. “So when they’re able to see a psychiatrist, they can plan their goals.”

The facility seeks to provide refugees with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate both legal and mental health systems effectively.
