Venice Biennale 2026: Chat executive director Takahashi Mizuki appointed to lead Japan’s pavilion
Takahashi Mizuki will co-curate the pavilion alongside Horikawa Lisa. They will showcase new work by queer Japanese American performance artist Ei Arakawa-Nash.
Takahashi Mizuki, executive director and chief curator of the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (Chat) in Hong Kong, has been appointed co-curator of the Japan Pavilion at the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in May 2026.
Takahashi will co-curate the pavilion alongside Horikawa Lisa, senior curator and director (curatorial and collections) at the National Gallery Singapore. Together, they will showcase new work by queer Japanese American performance artist Ei Arakawa-Nash.
