Seville hosts 4th UN Conference on Financing for Development
The 4th International Conference on Financing for Development will be held in Seville, Spain, from 30 June to 3 July. 70 heads of state and government, as well as representatives from 150 countries and civil society will attend. The conference aims to renew the global framework for financing development.
From 30 June to 3 July, Seville will serve as the venue for the global debate on development.
Bringing together 70 heads of state and government, as well as representatives from 150 countries and civil society, the summit will tackle the financial challenges of implementing sustainable development policies.
The conference aims to renew the global framework for financing development, originally agreed in Addis Ababa in 2015, and to support the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, according to an official statement.
“This conference aims to reaffirm our commitment to multilateralism in the complicated political reality we live in, and we are indeed very proud to host this meeting,” said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Sunday, ahead of the summit.
At a time of geopolitical tensions and rising conflict, Sánchez added, the conference “is a call to action.” “We must act with courage and show the world the vision we want to build,” he said.
