JoyRoom Apple Watch charger review – A dedicated travel charger for your Apple Watch – The Gadgeteer

The JoyRoom Apple Watch charger is a portable charger for Apple Watch with a 2000mAh battery. It is available in four colorways: black, white, pink, and mint. The unit is the fastest battery charger I have. Recharge time on a laptop-level power supply is amazing. It recharged with all levels of charger I attached it to. There are internal protections to prevent overcharging of your watch and of the device itself when it is being recharged. Knowing it’s at 99% rather than 76% (which would both show as three solid dots and the fourth one blinking while charging under the 4-LED system) lets me know I can get another day out of the battery. I love having the LCD rather than little “gas gauge” LEDs to indicate the charge level. I could have had a useful charge in half that time. But if you’re elsewhere, do you have a charger in your bag? If not, why not? I chuckled at the product videos. A guy is at his desk and his watch says “Charge me’ and he pulls out the black model. REVIEW – The constant complaint about the Apple Watch is that it needs to be charged daily. If you’ve got one and wear it regularly, however, you just accept that and deal with it like other daily maintenance routines. And you have chargers everywhere. Today, I am reviewing YAAWC (Yet Another Apple Watch Charger) that I have added to my extensive collection, the JOYROOM Portable 2000mAh Wireless Charger Compatible for Apple Watch Series 10/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/SE/UItra 2/Ultra, Compact Magnetic iWatch Charger Keychain Style Travel Essentials (Black). (I just love Amazon SEO-enhanced product titles!) I promise, the product is less complicated than that title, yet lives up to the hype. Let’s look. ⬇︎ Jump to summary (pros/cons) Price : normally $19.99, black model is on sale for $15.99 Where to buy : Company Webstore or Amazon The JoyRoom Apple Watch charger is a portable charger for Apple Watch with a 2000mAh battery. The JoyRoom Apple Watch charger is a small brick 1.5” x 2.75” x .5”. There is a standard Apple Watch charger puck on the face with a .625” black LCD window centered below it. On the top, there is an integrated loop of faux leather (brown on the black model, color-matched on the other colorways) with a 1” gated O-ring attached. It is available in four colorways: black, white, pink, and mint. It weighs 64g (2.25 oz.) according to my handy-dandy kitchen scale. If you have an Apple Watch, you’ve used the charger. This one requires you to press the side button before putting the watch on the charging area. It will turn off automatically (to prevent accidental activation) after 30 seconds if you don’t put a watch on the charging pad. You can turn it off by double-clicking the power button if you’re impatient. Supports fast charging, rather than just the regular slow charge level of the original charger. There are internal protections to prevent overcharging of your watch and of the device itself when it is being recharged. It recharged with all levels of charger I attached it to. The unit is the fastest battery charger I have. Recharge time on a laptop-level power supply is amazing. I love having the LCD rather than little “gas gauge” LEDs to indicate the charge level. Knowing it’s at 99% rather than 76% (which would both show as three solid dots and the fourth one blinking while charging under the 4-LED system) lets me know I can get another day out of the battery. While I was writing this, I got a message that my watch (a five-year-old Series 6, 44mm from 2020/2021) was at 10%. By the time I got things ready, it was at 9%. I put it on the JoyRoom, which was at 100%. One hour and 41 minutes later, the JoyRoom was at 81% and the watch was at 100%. But I could have had a useful charge in half that time. I just wanted to go from “close to totally dead” to getting the alert that it was 100%. (Keep in mind that the Series 6 came out before fast charging, but a good charger does give it a little speed boost.) If you wear an Apple Watch and use it for sleep tracking, then you know the drill – you get up and go in the morning, forgetting to charge your watch while showering or making breakfast. Mid-day, you get the dreaded 10% warning and the offer to go to battery-saving mode. If you’re at your desk or driving, you probably have a charger nearby. But if you’re elsewhere, do you have a charger in your bag? If not, why not? I chuckled at the product videos. A guy is at his desk and his watch says “Charge me” and he pulls out the black model. Then he’s on a picnic, and the same thing happens, because the charger is clipped to his belt loop. But when the beautiful lady in her gauzy white dress is sitting at a pink tea set with pink tablecloth and china and her Rose Gold watch gave that message, she pulled the pink version out of her pink purse and put it on the pink tablecloth next to the pink china three-tier sandwich tray where she’s having high tea. Totally contrived scenarios? Maybe. But I have loaned a charger to a friend while having coffee. And every desk I spend time at has a charger for the watch, either always connected or in a drawer. It’s too easy to have one around now, and the data the watch gives is valuable enough to commit to having something available, just like you have for your phone. And, yes, I have driven away from home, looked at my bare wrist, realized I had left it on the charger, and turned around to get it ! It’s that valuable to me. I have had portable Apple Watch chargers for almost as long as I’ve had an Apple Watch. When I was pulling up product info for this device, Amazon had a five-screen carousel of “portable Apple Watch charger” suggestions from $45 to $8, so this is a popular idea. Of the ones I have, (I think five at last count), this one is my favorite. It’s not the smallest, but it is the fastest and sleekest. I know, I know, this the first-worldliest of first-world problems. If you’re complaining about the difficulty or the irritation of charging your Apple Watch daily, you probably complain about the necessity of brushing your teeth, too. But things that we value have a cost.
