Patna: Calling the special intensive revision (SIR) as “unconstitutional”, CPI(ML) general secretary

Bhattacharya, accompanied by the party’s state secretary Kunal, was talking to reporters. He said those participating in the July 9 general strike call at Patna would ‘gherao’ the office of chief electoral officer (CEO) here to press for the cancellation of the SIR exercise in the state.

“SIR is not only unconstitutional, but is also aimed at jeopardizing the voting rights of crores of people in the state. There is no instance of such an exercise being conducted in any other state,” he said, adding that the EC in Delhi did not give satisfying answers to questions and fears that the representatives of the GA partners presented before it on July 5. He added that the coming assembly elections should be held on the basis of the electoral roll used during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
