Michigan football is ranked as the 15th-best team in the nation — at least in the video game world. The Wolverines have been assigned an 85 overall rating ahead of the release of the EA Sports College Football 26 video game. U-M had an 88 overall rating in College Football 25, the 11th-highest rating after the team’s national championship.

Though the Wolverines suffered a small drop in the ratings, there is a small change that might make them more competitive overall (in the video game world). Only four overall points separate U-M from top-ranked Alabama (89) in the newest game, whereas seven points separated U-M from top-ranked Georgia (95) in the 2025 edition released last summer.
U-M is coming off an 8-5 season in 2024, finishing seventh in the Big Ten after going 5-4 in the conference. The Wolverines did, however, finish strong with a 13-10 upset win over No. 2 Ohio State on Nov. 30 and a 19-13 win over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa on Dec. 31.

EA also released top-5 rankings for certain positional groups, and U-M’s Rod Moore stands as the No. 3-ranked safety in the country with a 92 overall rating.
EA has only released the ratings for its top 25 teams, meaning we still have yet to find out Michigan State’s overall rating.
College Football 26 will be released on Thursday, July 10.
