As many prepare for road trips over the holiday weekend, AAA Southern Nevada is advising drivers to remain vigilant to avoid potential dangers, including wrong-way drivers.

“Listen, awareness is the key here when you are driving,” said John Treanor, spokesperson for AAA Southern Nevada. “Awareness of what is going on in your car and preparedness of what may be coming down the road from other drivers. Whether it is wrong-way driving, or whether it is the speed limit, or whether it is running red lights, distracted driving is a major effect here.”

State troopers have also highlighted impairment as a significant factor in wrong-way crashes, alongside distracted driving.
