“At the bargaining table, Adventist Health has yet to meaningfully address critical concerns raised by nurses, including staffing, work-life balance, and retention — issues that directly impact both nurse well-being and patient care,” said Amber Wiehl, RN, chief nurse representative for Adventist Health Sierra Vista, and CNA Board member. “This falls short of the organization’s own mission to promote ‘health, wholeness, and hope.’ Nurses are calling on Adventist Health to offer a fair contract that ensures we can deliver safe, quality care without compromising our own health and safety.”
“I was excited to have Adventist Health come to our community, and the initial positivity in the workplace felt like a good culture change,” said Heather Baker, RN and chief nurse representative at Adventist Health Twin Cities. “However, despite their bargaining team’s claims of wanting to collectively solve challenges, Adventist Health’s proposals do not illustrate a commitment to solving vital issues that impact both nurses and patient care.”
Nurses notified their employer on June 13 that they would hold informational pickets.
California Nurses Association represents nearly 550 nurses at Adventist Health Central Coast’s two hospitals, including nearly 250 at Twin Cities and more than 300 at Sierra Vista.
