Israel to send negotiators to Qatar for Gaza ceasefire talks
Israeli airstrikes killed 14 Palestinians and another 10 were killed while seeking food aid, hospital officials in the embattled enclave said. Two US aid workers with the Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation were injured in an attack at a food distribution site, which the organisation blamed on Hamas. US President Donald Trump has pushed for an agreement and will host Mr Netanyahu at the White House on Monday to discuss a deal. Hamas gave a “positive” response late Friday to the latest US proposal for a 60-day truce but said further talks were needed on implementation. Previous negotiations have stalled over Hamas demands of guarantees that further negotiations would lead to the war’s end, while Mr Netanyahu has insisted Israel would resume fighting to ensure the militant group’s destruction. The UN says it has recorded 613 deaths, almost every day, with hundreds more wounded, according to Gaza Health Ministry and witnesses. Israel has said it fires warning shots as a crowd-control measure and only aims at people when its troops are threatened. The GHF has said no one has been shot at its sites, which are guarded by private contractors and can be accessed only by passing Israeli military positions hundreds of metres away.

Weary Palestinians expressed cautious hope after Hamas gave a “positive” response late Friday to the latest US proposal for a 60-day truce but said further talks were needed on implementation.
“We are tired. Enough starvation, enough closure of crossing points. We want to sleep in calm where we don’t hear warplanes or drones or shelling,” said Jamalat Wadi, one of Gaza’s hundreds of thousands of displaced people, speaking in Deir al-Balah.

Hamas has sought guarantees that the initial truce would lead to a total end to the war and withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
Previous negotiations have stalled over Hamas demands of guarantees that further negotiations would lead to the war’s end, while Mr Netanyahu has insisted Israel would resume fighting to ensure the militant group’s destruction.
“Send a delegation with a full mandate to bring a comprehensive agreement to end the war and bring everyone back. No one must be left behind,” Einav Zangauker, mother of hostage Matan Zangauker, told the weekly rally by relatives and supporters in Tel Aviv.
Israeli airstrikes struck tents in the crowded Muwasi area on Gaza’s Mediterranean coast, killing seven people including a Palestinian doctor and his three children, according to Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis.
Four others were killed in the town of Bani Suheila in southern Gaza.
Three people were killed in three strikes in Khan Younis.
Israel’s army did not immediately comment.
Separately, eight Palestinians were killed near a GHF aid distribution site in the southern city of Rafah, the hospital said.
One Palestinian was killed near another GHF point in Rafah.
It was not clear how far the Palestinians were from the sites.
GHF denied the killings happened near their sites.
The organisation has said no one has been shot at its sites, which are guarded by private contractors and can be accessed only by passing Israeli military positions hundreds of metres away.
The army had no immediate comment but has said it fires warning shots as a crowd-control measure and only aims at people when its troops are threatened.
Another Palestinian was killed waiting in crowds for aid trucks in eastern Khan Younis, officials at Nasser Hospital said.
The United Nations and other international organisations have been bringing in their own supplies of aid since the war began.
The incident did not appear to be connected to GHF operations.
Much of Gaza’s population of over two million now relies on international aid after the war has largely devastated agriculture and other food sources and left many people near famine.
Crowds of Palestinians often wait for lorries and unload or loot their contents before they reach their destinations.
The lorries must pass through areas under Israeli military control.
Israel’s military did not immediately comment.
The GHF said the two American aid workers were injured on Saturday morning when assailants threw grenades at a distribution site in Khan Younis.
The foundation said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Israel’s military said it evacuated the workers for medical treatment.
The GHF, a US- and Israeli-backed initiative meant to bypass the UN, distributes aid from four sites that are surrounded by Israeli troops.
Three sites are in Gaza’s far south.
The UN and other humanitarian groups have rejected the GHF system, saying it allows Israel to use food as a weapon, violates humanitarian principles and is not effective.
Israel says Hamas has siphoned off aid delivered by the UN, a claim the UN denies.
Hamas has urged Palestinians not to cooperate with the GHF.
GHF, registered in Delaware, began distributing food in May to Palestinians, who say Israeli troops open fire almost every day toward crowds on roads heading to the distribution points.
Several hundred people have been killed and hundreds more wounded, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry and witnesses.
The UN human rights office says it has recorded 613 Palestinians killed within a month in Gaza while trying to obtain aid, most of them while trying to reach GHF sites.
The war began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 others hostage.
Israel responded with an offensive that has killed over 57,000 Palestinians, more than half of them women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which is led by medical professionals employed by the Hamas government.
It does not differentiate between civilians and combatants, but the UN and other international organisations see its figures as the most reliable statistics on war casualties.
American Veterans Injured In Grenade Attack While Distributing Aid In Gaza
According to GHF, following the successful of a successful attack on a group of people, the next step is to find out what happened next. This is what those trying to feed civilians now face. “This administration remains laser-focused on Gaza despite other events in the region,” says the author. “Hamas has so far provided upwards of 40 million meals, Hamas is threatening violence.” “In recent days, Hamas has also pre-empted. and privately threatened. Gazf’s security, and enter the military-aged men, and often come within. of the American personnel.“ “The U.S. is always their answer to hope” and “this administration remains. laser- focused on Gaza.’ ““These are fragments of a rock, two of which were thrown by. the men who threw them then ran into a crowd of. civilians, and many of which are “collaborating” with each other.
The United States-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said that the two highly decorated American veterans employed at their site are receiving medical treatment and are in stable condition.
According to GHF, following the successful distribution of food aid to Gazans, two assailants threw Iranian-made grenades packed with ball bearings at the contractors before running into the crowd of civilians. No civilians or Gazan workers were injured in the attack.
The Israel Defense Forces facilitated the evacuation of the two victims following the attack for medical treatment, according to IDF International Spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation believes that Hamas is responsible for the attack.
“Yesterday, GHF marked the 4th of July with 60 million meals delivered on behalf of America — and a wish for Gaza’s independence from fear and terror,” GHF director Rev. Johnnie Moore wrote on X. “Hamas responded by throwing grenades at two Americans feeding hungry families. Violence is always their answer to hope.”

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation says Hamas last put bounties on the heads of its Gazan and American workers.
“According to these reports, Hamas has placed bounties on both our American security personnel and Palestinian aid workers—offering cash rewards to anyone who injures or kills them,” GHF said last Saturday. “In recent days, Hamas has also pre-positioned armed operatives near humanitarian zones in an effort to disrupt the only functioning aid delivery system in Gaza.”
Last month, a senior Trump administration official confirmed to The Daily Wire that Hamas was threatening the contractors.
“While the GHF has so far provided upwards of 40 million meals, Hamas is threatening violence — this time to humanitarian workers, which includes Americans, at the GHF sites themselves,” the official said. “This administration remains laser-focused on Gaza despite other events in the region.”
The senior official warned that Hamas should “be careful not to miscalculate.”
The threats made against the American contractors were often made indirectly, using intermediaries, including some of the Gazan workers.
ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER BENJAMIN NETANYAHU TO VISIT THE WHITE HOUSE NEXT WEEK
Sources familiar with GHF’s operations told The Daily Wire that several suspicious men have routinely visited GHF’s distribution sites without taking food, and instead appear to be monitoring GHF workers and their security systems. The sources believe that the military-aged men are part of Hamas and enter the sites to “size up” GHF’s security, weapons, and fighting positions.
Individuals entering the aid distribution centers are not subject to security screenings due to food urgency levels, and often come within meters of the American personnel. The American security contractors do not have the authority to detain the suspicious men for questioning and do not share information with the IDF about the suspected Hamas members.
Hamas has routinely, publicly and privately threatened Gazan humanitarian workers at the site and people seeking aid, calling them “collaborators” coordinating in “the enemy’s schemes.”
“All collaborators, thieves, and criminal armed gangs are legitimate targets for the resistance units and security,” Hamas said in a joint statement with other Palestinian factions, according to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
Last month, Hamas assassinated around a dozen Palestinian GHF workers while they were taking a bus to aid distribution sites ahead of their first day of work. Seriously injured survivors were reportedly denied treatment at Nasser Hospital, according to GHF.
“Hamas views GHF as a threat to its control,” a source familiar with GHF’s operations said. “GHF’s secure delivery model prevents Hamas from diverting, taxing, or controlling aid. By delivering food directly to civilians without interference, GHF undermines Hamas’s grip over the population and its ability to weaponize aid for political leverage.”
GHF has condemned the majority of the international community for being silent about Hamas’s threats to their aid distribution program.
“For weeks, we warned this would happen,” the group said in a statement. “We asked the aid community to condemn threats. They stayed silent. We asked the media to stop laundering Hamas lies. They kept printing. Today, Hamas followed through by attacking American veterans with grenades as they delivered food. The silence is deafening. At what point is allowing Hamas to terrorize aid workers and run a propaganda campaign through Western media no longer acceptable?”
TRUMP HAS BEEN CLEAR FOR 14 YEARS THAT IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON
Since GHF began operating on May 26, the group has provided more than 62 million free meals to Gazans, with 1.8 million delivered on Saturday.
GHF says it will continue to contribute aid, despite the attack and Hamas’s ongoing threats.
“With Hamas no good deed goes unpunished,” United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee posted to X following the attack.
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce condemned the attacks in a statement, claiming it shows the depravity of Hamas.
“This act of violence against the people actually bringing relief to Gazans lays bare the depravity of Hamas,” Bruce said. “GHF has contributed over 62 MILLION MEALS – nothing will stop these courageous aid workers. We are praying for the rapid recovery of the injured Americans.”
Two U.S. aid workers wounded in Gaza, foundation says
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said two of its American aid workers were injured. The foundation blamed Hamas, which has been fighting Israel on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023. The workers were in stable condition, GHF said. Since the foundation was launched, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians trying to collect food aid, the U.N. and local doctors say, according to a BBC report. The United Nations said Gazans are at a “critical risk of famine” with 1 in 5, or 500,000, facing starvation as the war rages since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct.7, 2022. “We will continue to stand with the people of Gaza and do everything in our power to deliver the aid,” foundation said.
July 5 (UPI) — The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said two of its American aid workers were injured in an attack while distributing desperately needed food to Palestinians.
The foundation, which formed in May, posted on X that two militants threw grenades in Khan Younis. The workers were in stable condition, GHF said.
The incident “occurred at the conclusion of an otherwise successful distribution in which thousands of Gazans safely received food,” GHF said. “No local aid workers or civilians were injured.”
The foundation blamed Hamas, which has been fighting Israel on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.
“GHF has repeatedly warned of credible threats from Hamas, including explicit plans to target American personnel, Palestinian aid workers and the civilians who rely on our sites for food. Today’s attack tragically affirms those warnings,” the foundation said.
GHF said the attack won’t deter its efforts, which began on May 27 in Rafah.
“Despite this violence, GHF remains fully committed to its mission: feeding the people of Gaza safely, directly, and at scale,” the foundation said. “Attempts to disrupt this life-saving work will only deepen the crisis. We will continue to stand with the people of Gaza and do everything in our power to deliver the aid they so urgently need.”
In June, more than 100 human rights groups and international aid charities, including Oxfam, Save the Children and Amnesty International, called for the end of aid by the foundation because the locations are in combat zones.
“Today, Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice: starve or risk being shot while trying desperately to reach food to feed their families,” the group said. “The humanitarian system is being deliberately and systematically dismantled by the Government of Israel’s blockade and restrictions, a blockade now being used to justify shutting down nearly all other aid operations in favor of a deadly, military-controlled alternative that neither protects civilians nor meets basic needs.
Since the GHF was launched, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians trying to collect food aid, the U.N. and local doctors say, according to a BBC report. But Israel said the new distribution system stops aid going to Hamas.
In May, GHF announced Israel will allow the resumption of aid, including 300 million meals for the initial 90 days.
Since the cease-fire between Israel and militant-run Hamas ended on March 1, Israel had frozen all supplies of food, water and medicine to the region of an estimated 2.5 million people. The United Nations said Gazans are at a “critical risk of famine” with 1 in 5, or 500,000, facing starvation as the war rages since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
The foundation’s executive director, Jake Wood, is a decorated Marine Corps veteran, social entrepreneur and expert in crisis leadership. In 2010, he co-founded and is CEO of Team Rubicon, a nonprofit of 180,000 veteran volunteers in humanitarian roles, including disaster response.
Dozens killed in Gaza as Israel weighs ceasefire plan – DW – 07
Officials in the Gaza Strip say dozens have been killed in attacks on Saturday. Israel prepares to respond to a ceasefire plan that Hamas has agreed to in principle.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA said at least 50 people had been killed in airstrikes and other incidents, with many casualties reported among those desperately queuing for food.
Here are the latest headlines from around Gaza, Israel and the wider Middle East on Saturday, July 5.

Johnnie Moore, the grenades were found to be of Iranian origin and have been “commonly used by Hamas.”
“I am sorry to say also that today’s terror attack on Americans is partly a byproduct of the legitimacy that many in the press and at the [U.N.] provide to Hamas —amplifying Hamas’s lies about GHF every day, but also actively collaborating with Hamas,” Moore wrote on X.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee condemned the attack, saying that “With Hamas no good deed goes unpunished.”
PEOPLE IN GAZA ARE THANKING TRUMP FOR AID, LEADER OF US-BACKED GROUP SAYS
“The Hamas terrorist organization and other terrorist groups in Gaza continue efforts to sabotage and fail the distribution of humanitarian aid at the distribution sites and on the way to them,” IDF International Spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani wrote in a statement. “IDF troops facilitated a safe evacuation for further medical treatment. The Hamas terrorist organization and other terrorist groups in Gaza continue to harm the Gazan civilians.”
GHF slammed the international community over its silence on the threats and violence against its aid workers.
“For weeks, we warned this would happen. We asked the aid community to condemn threats. They stayed silent. We asked the media to stop laundering Hamas lies. They kept printing. Today, Hamas followed through by attacking American veterans with grenades as they delivered food. The silence is deafening. The attack comes just one week after the organization said that Hamas put bounties on the heads of its workers, American and Palestinian alike. According to GHF, Hamas was offering money to anyone who killed or injured one of the organization’s aid workers.
“We are aware of credible reports that Hamas is openly targeting the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and those who work with us. According to these reports, Hamas has placed bounties on both our American security personnel and Palestinian aid workers, offering cash rewards to anyone who injures or kills them,” GHF told Fox News Digital.
“The targets of Hamas’ brutality are heroes who are simply trying to feed the people of Gaza in the middle of a war.”
As of July 4, GHF said it had delivered 60 million meals since it began distributing aid in May.
