Apple is still a few weeks away from its grand fall launch event, where the iPhone 17 series will be revealed, alongside a bunch of other devices. But it seems the company’s 2026 product portfolio is the one worth waiting for. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is planning a barrage of fresh hardware across the Mac, iPhone, and iPad lineups next year.

In spring next year, Apple will introduce the iPhone 17e, a successor to the iPhone 16e that was introduced earlier this year, featuring Apple’s first in-house modem. Currently under development, carrying the codename V159, the upcoming budget phone will shift to the new A18 processor, which currently powers the mainline iPhone 16 series smartphones. The design will reportedly be similar, to which you can expect a notch atop the display and a single rear camera.

Coming to the iPads, Apple is planning a 12th-generation baseline model (J581 and J582), alongside upgrades for the iPad Air and Pro variants. The entry-level model will carry the same design as its predecessor, but will adopt a new silicon. The iPad Air, likewise, will switch things around internally and move to the M4 silicon, but there are no other major changes in the pipeline. As for the flagship iPad Pro, it will be upgraded to the M5 processor in the second half of 2025. Since Apple shifted to a new ultra-sleek design language in 2024, it’s unlikely we are getting a fresh look next year.

A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman details Apple’s current release plans for the first half of 2026. Much of it was already expected, but the biggest scoop is that Apple is considering delaying the new M5 MacBook Pros—originally slated to be released this fall—until early next year.

This fall still looks pretty full. We’ll have the new iPhone 17 lineup, including a new super-thin iPhone 17 Air, updated Apple Watches, new iPad Pro models, and perhaps an updated version of the Vision Pro headset and A18 Pro-powered MacBook.

New 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models were set to be released this fall, but Apple may release them early in 2026. “The timing remains fluid,” Gurman notes. While nearly all the Apple Silicon MacBook Pros have been released in October or November, the M2 MacBook Pro was released in January of 2023, so this new timing is not unprecedented. Update MacBook Air laptops are also still expected to launch in the spring.

Later in the spring, they’ll be joined by an iPhone 17e, which is similar in scope to the iPhone 16e released this year, and a new entry-level iPad and iPad Air. The iPads and MacBooks are what are dubbed “chip and ship” models—there aren’t any major new features expected, just upgraded processors.

Apple is also expected to release its first external Mac monitor since the Studio Display was released in 2022. Not much is known about the new display’s specs, other than that it is expected to remain at a 27-inch size. The current Studio Display is missing several higher-end features, including ProMotion and HDR.

Apple is still working on its affordable smart home hub product, which was supposed to be released this spring but was delayed due to its reliance on new Siri features and upgrades that have fallen far behind schedule. This device, which some call the “HomePad,” is now expected to launch in the first half of 2026.

iPhone 17 Air colors, A19 Pro, and other lineup rumors

A slew of rumors arrived this week for the iPhone 17 line, with iPhone 17 Air a particular highlight.

First, Fixed Focus Digital indicated the 17 Air would come in a “very light” shade of blue. This was followed up by Majin Bu sharing a render (seen above) of four expected colors:

Black

Silver

Light Gold

Light Blue

Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air is said to include a modified A19 Pro chip rather than the A19 previously expected.

Finally, Digital Chat Station claimed that all iPhone 17 models will get the thinner bezels that first debuted on last year’s Pro models. He also said there’s a new Dynamic Island UI coming.

My takeaways

When the M4 MacBook Air arrived earlier this year, Sky Blue seemed like it could prove popular. Now, it seems like Apple plans to use a very similar color with the iPhone 17 Air too. The A19 Pro rumor is especially intriguing, but also adds potential confusion to the lineup since it’s rumored to have one less GPU core than the Pro models.

Perhaps most interesting is the claim that a new Dynamic Island UI is coming. Digital Chat Station is one of the only leakers still claiming a smaller Dynamic Island will hit the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It’s unclear, though, how someone with supply chain sources would know about a significant software change.

New Studio Display, iPads, Macs, more in early 2026

Just today, Mark Gurman at Bloomberg outlined Apple’s plans for early 2026 product launches, and they sound significant.

New products include:

M5 MacBook Air

New external display, likely the Studio Display’s successor

iPhone 17e

M4 iPad Air

Base iPad with faster chip

and possibly the ‘HomePad’

Gurman also says the M5 MacBook Pro was planned for this fall, but might get pushed into 2026 too. Apple is “considering” the change, per the report, but nothing seems finalized yet.

My takeaways

Many of these products were assumed to be coming in early 2026 already, but Gurman’s report makes that seem even more likely. I’m personally most excited about Apple shipping a new Studio Display—or whatever new name they might have for it. It could pair nicely with my iPad Pro running iPadOS 26.

Outside of that, these reported launches show Apple moving more than ever to a consistent annual cycle for a wide array of products. Whereas iPad Air and iPad releases have historically been more sporadic, Apple seems to very intentionally be shifting to annual updates near the start of the year, alongside its other lower-cost products.

Vision Pro 2 coming this year, Vision Air in 2027

Mark Gurman also provided updates this week on two forthcoming Vision products.

An M4 Vision Pro is in the works for release before the end of 2025. Not much is expected to change except the M4 chip, possibly an improved Neural Engine, and a brand new strap. This strap will aim to make the device more comfortable to wear.

Gurman also referenced a lighter-weight Vision product that’s targeted for release in 2027. This new device, potentially called Apple Vision Air, “significantly reduces the weight of the headset” per Gurman.

My takeaways

Apple going with an M4 chip for the new Vision Pro rather than the expected M5 is a surprise. I’m not sure how much difference it will actually make though. What most excites me, as I wrote yesterday, is the idea of a new Vision Pro strap.

If we have to wait until 2027 for a Vision Air product that should actually be more mass market-friendly, then I very much hope this new strap can make a big difference in the meantime.

The lineup for the second half of 2025 holds few surprises, as Apple is likely to announce new iPhones and Apple Watches in September, as usual. This will be followed by the Apple M5-based iPad Pro in October, which is expected to receive relatively few upgrades besides the SoC. The Apple Vision Pro is also expected to receive a successor, which should get an upgrade to the Apple M4 chipset and a more comfortable head strap. Earlier rumors also pointed to a new Apple TV 4K and a HomePod mini, both of which are expected to feature Apple’s in-house WiFi chip for the first time. Noticeably absent from this list is the new MacBook Pro that should be based on the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max. According to Bloomberg, this product launch has been pushed back to early 2026. This is reportedly the last iteration with the current design before the MacBook Pro is expected to receive a thinner and lighter chassis with an OLED display.

The MacBook Air M5 is also anticipated to be unveiled early next year. In March or April 2026, Apple might also refresh the most affordable iPad as well as the iPad Air with newer processors. However, the iPad Air will reportedly remain a generation behind the iPad Pro and feature the Apple M4. Aside from the new processor, no major changes or upgrades are planned. Particularly exciting is the prospect of a new Apple Studio Display, as the current model is already over three years old. The long-awaited smart home hub could also be released in the first half of 2026. Notably missing from Bloomberg’s list is a cheaper MacBook with an iPhone processor, which is also rumored to debut in early 2026.

Apple is reportedly preparing a packed product lineup for early 2026, with major upgrades planned across iPhones, iPads, Macs, and even a new external display, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

Leading the charge will be the iPhone 17e, a follow-up to the iPhone 16e that launched earlier this year. The iPhone 17e will feature Apple’s new A19 chip — the same processor expected to power this fall’s iPhone 17 lineup — signaling a possible shift to annual updates for Apple’s entry-level smartphone. Previously, Apple’s iPhone SE lineup followed a slower release cycle.

Also in the pipeline are new M5-powered MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs, per sources. With such an aggressive launch schedule, Apple appears to be setting the stage for a busy 2026 — especially as it looks to rebound from softer demand over the last couple of years.
