Tempe police confirmed Wednesday that 23-year-old Jose Perez-Robledo was arrested on multiple third-degree burglary charges.
Authorities say the burglaries took place in the middle of the night between July 3 and July 8, when Perez-Robledo reportedly would use rocks to break into the eateries to steal cash drawers and registers.
Arizona’s Family spoke with the owners of Johnny’s Burgers and Dogs on McClintock Drive, just north of Southern Avenue, who caught the burglary on surveillance cameras.
A suspect swiped a register from a Tempe restaurant and Monday’s smash-and-grab was caught on camera.
Video shows someone smashing their way through the bottom glass window, shuffling their body across the floor, zig-zagging around the tables, before making their way to the front. They swiped the cash register clean from the counter before running off.
Tempe PD detectives said this week that other impacted businesses in the city included Quicky Tempe Boba, Serrano’s Restaurant, and Karla’s Taco Shop.
Authorities also confirmed that Perez-Robledo is connected to a burglary at JBB Barber & Beauty Salon in nearby Mesa, which was also featured in a recent Arizona’s Family report.
Police say Perez-Robledo was linked to the crime after security footage identified his car. Business owners also said he wore the same green gloves in the register heists.
He was taken into custody by Tempe PD’s Criminal Apprehension and Surveillance Team (CAST).
As the investigation remains ongoing, detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Tempe Police Department.
