Former General Dynamics Information Technology executive Mike O’Hara has joined ASRC Federal as vice president of business development for the company’s space operating group.

O’Hara has over three decades of senior-level experience in government and corporate aerospace, with a focus on opportunity development and the integration of products and services into new and existing market spaces.

Mike O’Hara’s Career Highlights

The executive spent nearly six years as GDIT’s business development director for the company’s NASA portfolio, responsible for identifying and leading business pursuits to meet GDIT’s growth targets within the space agency.

Prior to joining GDIT, he briefly served as a business development executive at Raytheon. O’Hara also was the director of space technology and services at Ball Aerospace, where he helped identify key science services partners to best leverage Ball’s capabilities, cultivate business relationships with partners and customers, and provide direction and guidance in campaign formulation, marketing and capture management. From February 2006 to May 2014, he served as Aerojet Rocketdyne’s director for civil space program development.

Before his private sector career, he spent 16 years at NASA Langley Research Center, supporting aeronautical research and development.

O’Hara is an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics associate fellow and has served on multiple association boards, including the Aerospace Industries Association and the Maryland Space Business Roundtable.

Commenting on O’Hara’s appointment as vice president of business development, Scott Altman, space operating group president at ASRC Federal, said O’Hara will help the company expand its civilian and space defense business, citing his “outstanding technical expertise and strong space industry background.”
