BJP is anti-reservation and anti-backwards. This is evident as the government ignores Supreme Court decision of June 25, 2025… During Digvijaya Singh’s tenure, 14% reservation was allocated for backwards classes, with a 27% reservation made in 2003. Neither Uma Bharti nor Shivraj Singh Chouhan implemented it. Later, Kamal Nath issued an ordinance… However, the government changed. Now, Mohan Yadav’s government comes, but they still are not implementing the reservation… In 2022, the Chhattisgarh Assembly unanimously approved a 27% reservation, and Governor Anusuiya Uikey agreed not to oppose it. I directed senior ministers to complete the process, and she said she would study it. Even after a new governor was appointed, the study continued for three years – Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on reservation

It is a highly condemnable crime which is taking place on the law campus. It is taking place because of the impunity that these rapists and criminals enjoy under the rule of the TMC government…After the RG Kar Medical College horrendous case, it was very clear that the TMC government is there to patronise these people and protect all those who are involved in it and who created an environment in which rape culture flourish. This is exactly what has happened on the law campus. Kolkata turning into ‘crime capital’: BJP slams Mamata govt over Law College rape case Senior BJP leaders launched a blistering attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government over the rape of a woman in a Kolkata law college, accusing the ruling party of failing to maintain law and order and protect women in the state.
Reacting sharply to the incident, BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “It is unfortunate that Kolkata is gradually becoming the crime capital. And if the capital of a state turns into a crime capital, and instead of controlling the crimes and criminals there, efforts are being made to justify their actions or provide them protection, then this is a very serious matter in itself.”
A Kolkata-based law college student became a victim of rape within the college premises on June 25 evening.
Echoing the outrage, BJP leader Dilip Jaiswal demanded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, citing a complete breakdown in governance.
“The earlier incident at the medical college in West Bengal was serious, and Mamata Banerjee’s government should have learned from it. However, her government has become uncontrollable, and the democratic system has collapsed. Remarks of Kalyan Banerjee (Trinamool Congress MP) on how to speak in such constitutional matters also deserve attention. Therefore, Mamata Banerjee’s government should resign immediately,” he said.

Trump says he stopped Israel from killing Iran’s Khamenei US President Donald Trump has said he stopped Israel and American forces from killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the final days of the recent war with Israel. Trump questioned Khamenei’s claim of victory, calling it false and warning Iran about global isolation if it does not return to the “world order”.
“Why would Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran say that he won the war with Israel, when he knows his statement is ‘a lie, it is not so’,” Trump said. He added that he knew where Khamenei was hiding but chose not to allow Israel or US forces to take his life.
“I knew exactly where Khamenei was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, terminate his life,” he said. Trump also claimed he intervened in Israel’s military operation targeting Tehran. “In the final act of the war, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran,” he said.
Trump further revealed he had worked on easing sanctions to help Iran recover economically. “During the last few days, I was working on the possible removal of sanctions, and other things, which would have given a much better chance to Iran at a recovery,” he said.
He warned Tehran about its isolation if it stays defiant. “Iran has to get back into the world order flow, or things will only get worse for them,” Trump said.
His remarks highlight deep tensions over Iran’s claims of victory, Israel’s strike plans, and Washington’s role in preventing further escalation.
University of Virginia president, pressured over DEI, resigns rather than ‘fight federal government’ The president of the University of Virginia, facing heavy pressure from conservative critics and the Trump administration over the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices, announced Friday that he was resigning rather than “fight the federal government.”
The departure of James Ryan, who had led the school since 2018, represents a dramatic escalation in the Trump administration’s effort to reshape higher education. Doing it at a public university marks a new frontier in a campaign that has almost exclusively targeted Ivy League schools. It also widens the rationale behind the government’s aggressive tactics, focusing on DEI rather than alleged tolerance of antisemitism.
Ryan had faced conservative criticism that he failed to heed federal orders to eliminate DEI policies, and his removal was pushed for by the Justice Department as it investigated the school, according to a person who was not authorized to discuss the matter by name and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press.
Judge rejects another Trump executive order targeting the legal community A federal judge on Friday struck down another of President Donald Trump’s executive orders targeting law firms. U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan ruled that the order against the firm of Susman Godfrey was unconstitutional and must be permanently blocked.
The order was the latest ruling to reject Trump’s efforts to punish law firms for legal work he does not like and for employing attorneys he perceives as his adversaries. Susman Godfrey suggested that it had drawn Trump’s ire at least in part because it represented Dominion Voting Systems in the voting machine company’s defamation lawsuit against Fox News over false claims surrounding the 2020 presidential election. The suit ended in a massive settlement.
Other judges in recent weeks have blocked similar orders against the firms of Jenner & Block, Perkins Coie and WilmerHale. The orders have sought to impose similar sanctions, including the suspension of security clearances of attorneys and the restriction of access to federal buildings.
California governor files $787 mn defamation suit against Fox News California Governor Gavin Newsom filed a lawsuit Friday against broadcaster Fox News, claiming defamation after alleged purposeful misrepresentation of details of a phone call with US President Donald Trump earlier this month.
The suit seeks $787 million in damages and was filed in a Delaware court, where Fox News is registered as a corporation.
Trump and Newsom spoke on the phone in the early hours of June 7 Washington time, but the pair did not address protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids occurring throughout Los Angeles, according to the lawsuit.
‘Not a god’: arguments end in Combs trial ahead of deliberations Sean “Diddy” Combs’s lawyer aimed Friday to skewer the credibility of the music mogul’s accusers, saying in closing arguments they were out for money while rejecting any notion he led a criminal ring.
But in their rebuttal — the trial’s final stage before jurors are tasked with deciding the verdict — prosecutors tore into the defense, saying Combs’s team had “contorted the facts endlessly.”
Prosecutor Maurene Comey told jurors that by the time Combs — once among the most powerful people in music — had committed his clearest-cut offenses, “he was so far past the line he couldn’t even see it.”
“In his mind he was untouchable,” she told the court. “The defendant never thought that the women he abused would have the courage to speak out loud what he had done to them.”
“That ends in this courtroom,” she said. “The defendant is not a god.”

“IDF never targets civilians, anyone claiming otherwise is blatantly lying”: Israel responds to remarks by UN Secy Gen Guterres The Foreign Ministry of Israel issued a statement on Saturday in response to the remarks made by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres on the humanitarian aid to Gaza, and reiterated its stance that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), does not target civilians.
In its statement posted on X, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said, “Blaming Israel for the UN’s failures and for Hamas’s deeds is a deliberate tactic. The GHF has so far provided more than 46 million meals directly to Palestinian civilians, not to Hamas. Yet the UN is doing everything it can to oppose this effort. In doing so, the UN is aligning itself with Hamas, which is also trying to sabotage the GHF’s humanitarian operations.”
It further added, “The IDF never targets civilians, and anyone claiming otherwise is blatantly lying. It is Hamas that is deliberately targeting and murdering GHF (Gaza Humanitarian Fund) aid workers — a crime the UN has never condemned — and is also targeting civilians who are trying to collect aid from the GHF.”
Trump says he’s ending trade talks with Canada over its ‘egregious’ tax on technology firms President Donald Trump said Friday that he’s suspending trade talks with Canada over its plans to continue with its tax on technology firms, which he called “a direct and blatant attack on our country.”
Trump, in a post on his social media network, said Canada had just informed the U.S. that it was sticking to its plan to impose the digital services tax, which applies to Canadian and foreign businesses that engage with online users in Canada. The tax is set to go into effect Monday.
“Based on this egregious Tax, we are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately. We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period,” Trump said in his post.

“Bengal is not safe for women”: BJP’s Pradeep Bhandari slams TMC on Kolkata rape case BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress over the Kolkata alleged gangrape case and said that West Bengal is not safe for women under the Mamata Banerjee government.
“Mamata Banerjee’s government supports the rape of women in Bengal. The accused in the Kasba gangrape is an active member of Mamata Banerjee’s party, Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee runs and protects an army of goons in Bengal for her appeasement politics and political dominance. People of Trinamool Congress commit rape against women, erase evidence and the TMC government makes a one-week case. A person of Trinamool Congress has been found guilty in the Kasba gang rape. Bengal is not safe for women. Despite Mamata Banerjee being a woman chief minister, her thinking is anti-women,” Bhandari told ANI.
“Iran has to get back into world order flow…”: US President Trump US President Donald Trump on Friday reiterated how the nuclear sites in Iran were “obliterated” and said that Iran has to come back to the world order flow or else things could get worse for the country.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader,’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war-torn Country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie? It is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie. His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life.”
“I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, “THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!” In fact, in the final act of the War, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran, looking for a big day, perhaps the final knockout! Tremendous damage would have ensued, and many Iranians would have been killed. It was going to be the biggest attack of the War, by far,” he added.

Pakistani Taliban also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella group of several Islamist militant groups, has long been waging a war against Pakistan in a bid to overthrow the government and replace it with its own Islamic system of governance.
The Pakistani military, which has launched several offensives against the militants, has mostly been their prime target.

Speaking at a hearing titled “Assessing the Terrorist Threat Landscape in South and Central Asia and Exploring Opportunities for Cooperation”, Huizenga emphasised that the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan significantly shifted the regional security balance. He blamed the Biden administration’s exit strategy for allowing terrorist networks to regroup under Taliban control, as reported by Khaama Press.
He specifically expressed concern over the growing activities of groups like ISIS-Khorasan and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Citing Pakistan’s recent surge in violence, he noted a rise in deadly attacks, including the recent assault in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which he saw as evidence of ongoing insurgency in the region, according to reports in Khama Press.
