At least $1B in damage, 4,400 buildings impacted: the latest numbers from Friday’s tornado

St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer says the city assessor’s office estimates there was at least $1 billion in property damage. Of the 5,000 buildings in the tornado’s path, at least 4,400 sustained some damage, a fire chief says. The Red Cross is looking for space to open a fourth overnight shelter. A curfew will remain in effect from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the police chief says, but there have been no reports of looting.. More severe weather is in the forecast for Monday afternoon into the evening, the N.W.S. says. It says all hazards, including hail, strong winds and even a tornado or two, are possible, including a possible tornado in Clayton, Missouri, on Monday afternoon and Monday evening. The National Weather Service says the storm was a EF-2 tornado, with winds of up to 100 mph.
