Babbar Khalsa International Operative, 22, Arrested For Punjab Grenade Attack
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested a 22-year-old man linked to the banned terror group Babbar Khalsa International. The accused was identified as Karanbir alias Karan, said Amit Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell/New Delhi Range. Karanbir was arrested in connection with the grenade attack at Police Station Quila Lal Singh, in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district in April, the police said in a statement on Sunday.
The accused was arrested in Gurdaspur, Punjab, under the Arms Act on Saturday.
Confessing to his involvement in the grenade attack, Karanbir said that he was in contact with a person from Punjab, but based abroad and handling operations for BKI.
The accused also shared that he facilitated the stay of two persons at his home before the attack, who had executed the task of launching the grenade at Police Station Qila Lal Singh.
The accused revealed that his handler used to instruct him through social media applications to commit criminal and terror activities.
Karanbir revealed that he also visited a West Asian country in 2024. Karanbir told the police that he received money from his handler for executing the said grenade attack.
Karanbir’s brother, Gursewak, who was also involved in the attack, has already been arrested in the case. Karanbir was arrested based on the leads provided by Akashdeep alias Bazz of Amritsar, an accused in a case registered under the Arms Act.
Akashdeep, who was arrested in Indore on Tuesday, was also found involved in the grenade attack case at the Police Station Quila Lal Singh.
Notably, soon after the attack, a social media post by Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan and Gopi Nawanshahria, affiliated with BKI, claimed responsibility for the attack and also extended a threat to Delhi.
The National Investigation Agency is probing the case.
Further investigation is underway.

Another accused from Punjab held in connection with Batala grenade case
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested another acused from Punjab in connection with the grenade attack on Quila Lal Singh police station in Batala earlier this year. The accused, identified as Karanbir (22), a resident of Gurdaspur, is allegedly a key operative of the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International.

Earlier a week ago, another suspect, Akashdeep Singh alias Bazz(22) was arrested from Indore, Madhya Pradesh for his alleged involvement in the same incident and allegiance with BKI.
The grenade attack occurred in April 2025, when unidentified individuals targeted the Quila Lal Singh police station in Batala, Gurdaspur district.
Soon after the incident, a social media post surfaced in which known BKI operatives—Happy Passiya, Mannu Agwan, and Gopi Nawanshahria—allegedly claimed responsibility and issued threats targeting Delhi.
In response, Delhi Police’s anti-terror unit promptly launched an investigation and placed suspects linked to the attack under close surveillance.
According to sources, intelligence reports indicated Karanbir’s presence in Punjab, enabling the police to pinpoint his location and eventually apprehend him.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested one Karanbir alias Karan on the charge of having allegiance with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a banned terrorist organisation. On July 22, the Special Cell arrested a 22-year-old wanted terrorist, Akashdeep alias Bazz, an associate of the Babbar Khalsa International, from Indore in Madhya Pradesh in connection with a grenade attack.
During his custodial remand, and based on the leads during interrogation as well as inputs from intelligence sources, another accused, Karanbir, was arrested from Gurdaspur in Punjab.
Following the grenade attack, a post circulated on social media by Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan, and Gopi Nawanshahria — associates of the banned terror outfit BKI — claimed responsibility for the attack and issued threats targeting the national capital.
Twenty-two-year-old Karanbir has studied up to Class 12.
During questioning, he revealed that he had been in contact with a person from Punjab who is based abroad and handles operations for the banned outfit.
It has been revealed that he was in touch with the handler through social media applications and was receiving instructions to carry out criminal acts of terror.
He had also visited a West Asian country in 2024. The accused is said to have facilitated the stay of two persons at his residence prior to the grenade attack in Batala. Further investigation is currently underway in the matter, a police official said.
