Bar Harbor to receive FEMA award for storm repairs
The money will pay for environmental, geophysical, and structural engineering efforts. The money will also cover engineering and design for the Hadley Point Beach Ramp. The town expects to receive the funds by the end of July.
The news comes as the Trump Administration continues to discuss plans to get rid of the agency.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said on Wednesday FEMA must be “eliminated as it exists today and remade into a responsive agency.”
Bar Harbor announced this week that the town has been awarded $272,922.99 and expects to receive the funds by the end of July.
According to the announcement, town staff have been working with FEMA to identify the scope of work necessary for repairs.
The town said the money will pay for environmental, geophysical, and structural engineering efforts as well as the repaving of the Town Pier.
According to the town announcement, the funding will also cover engineering and design for the Hadley Point Beach Ramp.
