The group will look at mental health, substance use, trauma and more.

Organizers say they are always concerned about access to care in the state, so it’s vital to make sure they’re touching as many people as possible when it comes to behavioral health problems.

“It’s to inspire them to go back and do the amazing work that they are already doing, but maybe have some new ideas to do that same work,” explained Shanna McIntosh, the VitAL Director. “But it’s also to network, to get to know other people in their area. Make connections across the state to make it easier for us to provide those services.”

The ViTAL Conference continues Friday morning with small group sessions and guest speakers.

That includes former Major League Baseball star Darryl Strawberry sharing his own story of struggles and redemption.
