Bilaspur Train Accident News Live Updates: At least five people were killed after a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur station in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday evening. The goods train’s last bogie dashed into the passenger train’s first bogie. Four passengers were still trapped under a coach of the passenger train and two are seriously wounded, Bilaspur collector Sanjay Agrawal said.

How did the accident happen? The incident took place around 4 pm when the MEMU (mainline electric multiple unit) passenger train was heading to Bilaspur from Gevra (in neighbouring Korba district), railway officials said. When the train was between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations, the passenger train rammed into a goods train from behind, the officials said. A detailed inquiry will be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) to ascertain the cause and recommend preventive measures, S V Vilasrao, the chief public relations officer (CPRO) of South East Central Railway announced.
