Alba Fyre vs. Tyra Mae Steel

Femi came out and had a segment with Saints in the ring. The new No. 1 contender promised to end the champ’s reign of terror. DarkState showed up in the crowd and began insulting both of them. It looks like we know who Femi and Saints will face in a tag match before they fight each other next month.

Hank and Tank came out to even the odds. The segment ended with the babyfaces sending the heels packing. Next up was a singles match between Alba Fyre and Tyra Mae Steel, who was looking to avenge her loss at Heatwave.

Fyre taunted Steel a bit at first, but the gold medalist made her regret it once she started throwing her around the ring with suplexes.

Once Fyre regained control, she tried to keep Steel grounded with little success. Steel was able to pull out the victory before Chelsea Green attacked her from behind. Tavion Heights confronted her, but Ethan Page attacked him.

This was another short match, but it was good for Steel to get a win on her record after suffering a loss on Sunday.

Result: Steel defeated Fyre

Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia

Daniel Garcia pushed Jon Moxley far more than The Death Rider expected, hobbling him with a focus on his right knee.

However, Mox escaped with the pin with a small package reversal after barely kicking out after the piledriver.

Afterward, Wheeler Yuta told Darby Allin that Mox refused to fight Darby Allin. Wheeler got back in the ring after the break to rant at the audience,

Hook interrupted with a new theme, “So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town” by Jay-Jay Johanson and laid out Yuta with a running forearm strike.

Mox has always been a giving partner in matches, but it felt like he was especially motivated to make Garcia look like a killer in this match.

The way Red Death wore down The Death Rider was genuinely surprising. Garcia has cooled off considerably in recent months, and Mox walked into this match with the goal to elevate him.

By the end, Garcia looked like the man that defeated Bryan Danielson in 2022. It was an inspired performance from all involved.

AEW cannot afford to miss with the follow-up. This should lead to a Red Death heel turn, perhaps even joining The Death Riders.

It would certainly be interesting to go that route. Garcia would benefit, and The Death Riders could use at least one more man.

However, Yuta is not likely to be pleased with that outcome since he and Garcia have feuded since they started in AEW.

It was good to see Hook back, and his new presentation is a major upgrade from what he was doing before his hiatus. He feels unique while keeping the best aspects of his character.

The Tribal Chief Has Arrived in the United Kingdom

This week’s early edition of Raw from England opened with a recap of last week’s show and the usual shots of Superstars arriving at the arena. As advertised, Reigns came out to kick things off.

After soaking in the love from the crowd for a couple of minutes with various chants and singing, The OTC finally spoke and said he has big plans for the rest of 2025 and into next year.

Reigns said he is no longer the man he used to be, but can be once again. Reigns talked about how he no longer has the Bloodline backing him up, but he took a moment to say he was proud of Jey Uso.

Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed came out to taunt Reigns. The segment went on for quite some time because the crowd kept chanting different things repeatedly. Reed also gave us a history lesson about his Samoan tribe’s history.

They ended up running toward each other and brawling in the aisle after both men talked some trash. They battled into the ring until security tried to break them up unsuccessfully. They fought until the show went to a break.

The first 20 minutes were pretty standard stuff, but the fight between Reigns and Reed helped make the ending more exciting.

Oba Femi vs. Je’Von Evans

The main event of Heatwave featured Femi defending the NXT Championship against Evans. Both men came into this match as babyfaces, so the crowd was cheering for both and did not seem to have a favorite.

Femi wanted to intimidate his opponent and used his power to make sure he knew who was the physically dominant man in the ring. The Young OG tried to fire off some chops, but the champion swatted him away.

Evans nailed a superkick that knocked Femi to the mat and made him do a double-take. The high-flyer stayed on him and hit some nice moves to keep him off balance.

The champion eventually regained control, but it never felt like he was as dominant as he was when it started. They told a good story of how Evans was wearing him down and surprising him with his resilience.

The last few minutes was the most exciting portion of the match. Evans was pulling out all the stops and Femi was doing his best to fight him off. They had the crowd chanting “This is awesome” as they built toward the finish.

It looked like Evans was going to win, but Femi’s foot was under the rope for the pin. So, another ref waved off the call and the match continued. Femi scooped his rival up and threw him over the top rope and through the announce table in the wildest spot of the night.

The crowd was not happy about it, but Femi ended up getting the win to retain his title.

Result: Femi defeated Evans
