Burke County ex-jailer files complaint alleging hostile work environment
A deputy jailer claims they worked in a hostile environment while on the day shift. They also claim they were placed on medical leave after being hospitalized. This follows several other complaints made against Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams. Traci Hollingsworth, a nemesis of the sheriff, has officially launched a recall effort against him. The sheriff also has filed a lawsuit against the county commissioners over the sheriff’s office budget.
According to court documents filed on July 1, a deputy jailer claims they worked in a hostile environment while on the day shift.
They also claim they were placed on medical leave after being hospitalized but when they returned to work, they were denied their request to be on light duty.

The employee says they made some mistakes while on the job experiencing pain.
According to the complaint, they were then reprimanded for the mistakes that had a pattern of medical leave and issues.
The employee was then discharged.
This follows several other complaints made against Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams.

At Tuesday night’s Burke County commission meeting, commissioners mentioned other active cases against the sheriff.
That includes a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by a former employee , a lawsuit filed by the family of Freddie Walker and legal action taken against him by an ex-deputy .
Also on Tuesday, Traci Hollingsworth, a nemesis of Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams, has officially launched a recall effort against him .
READ ORIGINAL WARRANT AND RECALL:
A recall application was issued by the Burke County Board of Elections, and organizers have 15 days to get 100 sponsors.
In June, a magistrate judge has recalled an arrest warrant filed by Williams against Hollingsworth.
Williams got the warrant issued for Hollingsworth on the grounds that some text messages she sent him amounted to harassing communications .
The sheriff also has filed a lawsuit against Burke County commissioners over control of the sheriff’s office budget .
