The owners of Hometana purchased a building downtown and will be moving into the new space at the end of the year.

Shirstie Gaylord, Hometana owner, said that they purchased the building at 117 Central Ave. in April and plan to move into that space after Christmas.

The store is currently located at 112 1st Ave. S.

Basketball facility

Prolific Basketball Academy is planning to build a new facility in the Great Falls International Airport business park.

The project is dubbed Terminal 360 and was announced by the airport on June 23.

The airport board considered a lease for the project during their June 24 meeting.

Prolific is requesting a 40-year ground lease in return for their capital investment in building a 32,607-square-foot facility with parking, that airport staff said in their agenda report could generate another $25,000 annually in revenue and hopefully spur further development in the business park.

The airport has submitted a tax increment financing request for infrastructure installation to prepare for the project.

City planning staff said they’re currently reviewing that application and it will go before the city planning board for consideration before going to the city commission for final approval.

Rural Retreat conference in Great Falls

The International Economic Development Council is hosting the Rural Retreat: New Energy, New Possibilities conference this week in Great Falls.

The event includes 400 participants from across the country in Great Falls for the three-day program.

Participants have been on daylong and half day tours of the region, including downtown Great Falls, Fort Benton and more, focused on agriculture, housing, revitalization and more.

Montana Association for the Blind summer orientation

The Montana Association for the Blind is hosting an orientation session 1-5 p.m. June 28 at the Ursuline Center, 2300 Central Ave.

The program was founded in 1947 and “this four-week intensive training initiative has empowered countless Montanans facing vision loss with essential skills for independence and self-reliance.”

At orientation, you can meet the instructors, tour the historic campus, explore adaptive-living classes in action from orientation and mobility to cooking, braille and smart-tech.

Complimentary refreshments will be served while connecting with current and past participants.

The orientation is free and attendees can learn how the association provides room, board, tuition and a supportive community entirely free thanks to fundraising and partner generosity.

Green Apple Counseling is now Green Apple Behavioral Health and has moved to 1219 Central Ave.
