“There were over 100 kids out there, but none of them are cooperating with us as well,” said Anniston Police Chief Nick Bowles. “It’s frustrating when it gets to the no snitching mentality we’ve got right now.”
Chief Bowles revealed that the party should never have taken place at the particular venue. The owner has been cited by the Fire Marshal for operating a business without a license that night.
“He was trying to sell the business, so he decided not to renew his business license. He wasn’t operating anything out of there, but he had a space he decided to rent to them,” Bowles said. The owner, who spoke with ABC 33/40 but declined to make an official comment, is cooperating with the investigation says Bowles.
“This should’ve never happened,” Bowles said. “And had we heard about it, had I seen the flyer beforehand, it definitely would not have happened.”
As the investigation continues, Bowles is urging the public to come forward with information. “In this case, she just got hurt. She just got shot in the leg and was injured,” Bowles said. “What if she didn’t come home? How would you feel if your loved one got killed at a party like this? Didn’t come home and there’s were 100 people out there, and they are not saying anything. You’re hurting your own community.”
