CAVE CITY, Ark. (KAIT) – Cave City is making significant progress as businesses rebuild after the March 14 tornado.

It’s been over 3 months since an EF-3 tornado wreaked havoc on Cave City, but the town keeps moving forward, and so do the businesses.

Amber Fore owns Fore Family Practice.

“It was shocking, but we’ve been here for 12 years, going on 13, and I really just thought this is where I would be till I retired. I didn’t know what to do,” Fore said.

She said as soon as they assessed the damage, they immediately began rebuilding.

“My rebuild was community-driven. Our landlord took care of us; our community took care of us. My coworkers, my staff here, everybody pitched in and worked six days a week,” Fore said.

In just eight weeks, her business is rebuilt and reopened.

Jennifer Walling’s process is taking more time. She owns Walling Drug.

“Just ways to navigate it to figure things out and just figuring out the process of how to rebuild and get started again,” Walling said.

Walling had to start over from scratch. She said they will be rebuilding, but in a different part of town.

“Since the tornado, we have bought a piece of land here in town and we’re going to rebuild, so we’re in that process right now,” Walling said.

Both business owners are thankful for the progress that has been made not only to their own businesses, but throughout the town.

“We’re just taking it day by day, but we’re here. I’m not going anywhere,” Walling said.

“I just can’t imagine living anywhere else and going through a tornado, and Cave City folks just really held each other up and loved on each other and just made it come together,” Fore said.
