In this Local Vibe interview, Temoura Jefferies, founder and owner of the Buy Black Guide, is highlighting three Triad organizations whose goal is to promote mental health and support in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month.First is The BU Collective, which is a teen development and mentorship program created to support and empower Black and Brown teen girls in the Greensboro area. Its owner, Imani Dorsey, said they take a holistic approach to youth development, helping girls grow in leadership, self-love, emotional wellness, and confidence. Dorsey said the program was inspired by a desire to create safe, affirming spaces where girls can show up authentically, be seen, and be celebrated, not just for what they achieve, but for who they are.The BU Collective offers workshops and interactive events for teen girls throughout the year, along with mentorship opportunities and creative learning experiences. Pamper Palace: Kids Spa Parties & Accessories is a mobile kids’ spa experience based in Greensboro, North Carolina. They travel throughout the Triad area, offering themed spa parties for girls ages 3 to 15, including mini-manicures, edible facials, spa crafts, and more. Owner Lucretia Gordon said she wanted to create memorable, confidence-boosting experiences for young girls by combining creativity, self-care, and empowerment in a fun and engaging way.This summer, the Pamper Palace is hosting a “Summer Glam + Fun Day,” a full day of glam makeovers, DIY fashion stations, treats, music, and more. The Thrive Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) located in Guilford County whose focus is bringing awareness to mental health in our community through training, workshops, and advocacy.
