White shoes are taking over the red carpets. Celebrities have been spotted wearing white shoes at numerous high-profile events and gatherings in the last few months, from the Cannes Film Festival to the streets of New York City.

Zoe Saldaña, Taraji P. Henson, Natalie Portman and other stars opted for a bevy of crisp white shoe styles like pumps, sandals and boots, which added a polished layer to their looks. While some paired them with dressed-down looks and casual dresses, others wore white high heels with their gowns and dresses, such as Lori Harvey at the Black Women in Music dinner and Portman at the Dior Cruise 2025 in Italy last month.

White footwear has become a staple of fashion for the spring and summer seasons. Some of the designers embracing the white shoe trend this year include Khaite, Tory Burch, Chanel, Alaïa and Prada, who featured white shoes during their spring 2025 runway shows.

Zoe Saldaña wore a pair of off-white Patrizia Pepe Astral slingback pumps to two interviews while promoting her animated Pixar film “Elio.” The pointed-toe pumps are crafted from chalk-white calf leather and feature a buckle-fastening ankle strap, complemented by loose-fitting side straps. The shoes featured a black sculpted back heel measuring 100mm. She demonstrated their versatility by pairing them with a red Gia Studios ensemble and then with a casual white and gray look from The Row.

Natalie Portman was spotted at Dior’s cruise 2025 show, held at Villa Albani Torlonia in Rome, Italy, in May. She wore a custom Dior resort 2026 dress and a white blazer, paired with a pair of Jimmy Choo’s popular Minny sandals in satin white.

Nicole Ari Parker wore knee-high boots to SiriusXM’s Town Hall with the cast of “And Just Like That,” hosted by Andy Cohen, in May in New York City. She wore Dries Van Noten’s white leather knee-high boots, which featured a slanted heel and a squared toe. She wore the boots with a Valentino crepe couture polo minidress in black with a white collar and white trimming along the front zipper.

Robin Roberts and Amber Laign had a glamorous date night at the “Call Me Izzy” Broadway opening night at Studio 54 on Thursday in New York City. For the event, the couple opted for monochrome looks to support Jean Smart’s show, contrasting with each other: Roberts wore an all-white ensemble and Laign wore all black.

The TV personality chose a pair of white shoes to complete her look. Roberts wore a pointed-toe style of croc-embossed pumps that featured a slight platform at the front and a sleek 3-to-4-inch heel. White shoes have been trending this season, with celebrities wearing them on and off the red carpet.

Laign went for a more modern look, but kept the heels classic. She wore a pair of black patent leather pointed pumps that peeked through her wide-legged trousers. The loose-fitting pants featured a high-waist design, which she accentuated with a slim, black leather belt. She wore a silk tank top, adding a twist to her look with a black hat and a pop of color with a car race print tote bag from Sacai.

While coordinating their outfits, Roberts and Laign both embraced the ongoing monochrome dressing trend, which involves wearing varying shades, textures and fabrics of a single color to create a harmonious yet visually dynamic look. They also joined a long tradition of celebrity couples coordinating black-and-white outfits on the red carpet, as a nod to classic elegance. This monochrome palette has been embraced by famous duos such as Victoria and David Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, and more couples.

“Call Me Izzy” marks Jean Smart’s return to Broadway. The “Hack” star is set to portray a writer, Isabelle Scutley, a Louisiana woman who is trapped in an abusive marriage, and poetry becomes her only escape. The show is written by Jamie Wax and directed by Sarna Lapine, and opens to the public on Friday.
