Tuesday, June 24th

23:51 CET – They have done it! Auckland City head home with a point to their name thanks to a 1-1 draw over the giants of South American football, Boca Juniors.

The part-timers are jubilant, as they should be, it’s a historic day for the New Zealanders!

Auckland City – Boca Juniors momentum chart Opta by StatsPerform

23:47 CET – Into stoppage time – we will have six minutes – can Boca Juniors force a winner?

23:42 CET – Into the 85th minute, and Nathan Garrow has made his ninth save of the day for Auckland City. Despite the own goal, he has been fantastic.

23:32 CET – Less than 15 minutes to go in Nashville, and Auckland City are repelling a pretty tepid Boca Juniors.

The Argentinian side are dominating all facets of the game, except the scoreline.

Auckland City – Boca Juniors momentum Opta by StatsPerform

23:16 CET – Boca Juniors have the ball in the back of the net, but VAR has intervened and the goal has been chalked off by handball. Auckland City’s dream of a point continues… for now.

23:11 CET – The storm has passed in Nashville and we are back underway with Auckland City and Boca Juniors level at 1-1 because of this historic goal from Christian Gray.

More than 30 minutes left in the game, goals feel guaranteed.

23:03 CET – Benfica have done it! They have beaten Bayern for the first time in their history with a 1-0 victory thanks to a 13th-minute goal from Norwegian Andreas Schjelderup.

They top Group C, but the Bavarians will continue in the tournament, finishing second with six points.

It means, that no matter what Boca Juniors can do against Auckland City as their game gets set to restart, they are out along with the New Zealanders.

Read the report from Charlotte now.

Benfica – Bayern match stats Opta by StatsPerform

22:54 CET – Eight minutes for Bayern to find an equaliser and top Group C, eight minutes for Benfica to hold on…

Meanwhile, news from Nashville, we will be back underway at 23:10 CET.

22:48 CET – Into the final stages in Charlotte and it is still Bayern on the front foot with Benfica seriously running out of legs.

Can they find a leveller?

Benfica – Bayern momentum Opta by StatsPerform

22:38 CET – Bayern’s Michael Olise has been the star of the show in this second half, and he puts in a wicked ball that falls to Aleksandar Pavlovic, but he is denied by Anatoliy Trubin. A superb save to keep his side ahead.

22:33 CET – Benfica are still just about holding firm against Bayern as we head into the cooling break. As it stands, the Portuguese side will top the group.

Meanwhile, in Nashville, we still have no play due to bad weather.

22:24 CET – On the hour mark, Bayern feel they have a leveller through Joshua Kimmich, however, the flag is up as an offside Harry Kane gets in the sight line of the goalkeeper.

22:19 CET – Boca Juniors and Auckland City’s match has been postponed due to a major storm heading the way of the stadium in Nashville.

Meanwhile, we continue in Charlotte, meaning Benfica and Bayern could have a long wait to see whether they have qualified or not for the next round.

At the moment, as things stand, they are both through.

22:16 CET – Auckland City have SCORED!

Christian Gray makes history for the amateur side in the 50th minute to level against the mighty Boca Juniors.

They have shocked the world!

22:15 CET – Bayern on the front foot to start the second half, as Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller both spurn chances to level the encounter against Benfica.

It does feel like a goal is coming…

22:03 CET – We are back underway in both Group C games, what drama will we witness?

It looks like Vincent Kompany isn’t happy with his Bayern team, making two changes at the start of the second half, bringing on heavy hitters Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich.

21:53 CET – We are now at the interval in both games as Benfica lead Bayern 1-0 through Andreas Schjelderup. Currently, the Liga Portugal side are topping Group C with today’s opponents holding second.

Benfica – Bayern Munich match stats Opta by StatsPerform

Meanwhile, it’s been all Boca Juniors against Auckland City, but it is only 1-0 at half-time. Boca will need a big turnaround in the second half to see them into the last 16.

That momentum graph doesn’t make for good reading for the New Zealanders.

Auckland City – Boca Juniors momentum Opta by StatsPerform

21:43 CET – Heading to half-time in both games, and Bayern are looking pretty lacklustre in their match, unable to break down a compact Benfica. It’s much the same for Boca, as Auckland City weather the storm. Carlos Palacios tries his luck from distance for the Argentinian team, but he can only hit the post. Seconds later, they hit the bar. A frustrating half for Boca.

21:29 CET – Boca Juniors need a lot of goals tonight against Auckland City and they have their first of the game. A corner from the net comes off the post, but it hits the unfortunate Nathan Garrow and goes in.

At the moment, the goal does nothing for Boca’s hopes of progressing, but still plenty of time to go.

21:21 CET – Benfica take a shock lead against Bayern as Fredrik Aursnes’ cut-back is clinically swept into the bottom corner by Andreas Schjelderup! The Portuguese side currently top Group C…

21:00 CET – Can Benfica secure a spot in the next round? Or can Boca Juniors claim a big win and a spot in the last 16 themselves? Let’s find out!

We’ll be providing regular updates here, and you can follow every kick of the matches here.

20:10 CET – Here are the starting lineups from both of tonight’s Group C matches, with Bayern opting to rest key attacking duo Harry Kane and Michael Olise ahead of the last 16.

Benfica vs Bayern lineups Flashscore

Auckland vs Boca lineups Flashscore

18:05 CET – Good evening! We’re less than three hours away from our first matches of the day at the Club World Cup, as Group C draws to a fascinating conclusion!

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich are already through to the last 16 after two wins from two, with the Bavarians needing just a point against Benfica tonight to secure top spot.

As for the Portuguese side, simply avoiding defeat will see them progress as they lead third-place Boca Juniors by three points and with a seven-goal superior goal difference.

However, a loss to Bayern could certainly open the door for Boca, who face group whipping boys Auckland City in Nashville to close out their campaign, meaning we could be in for an intriguing couple of hours.

Monday, June 23rd

23:50 CET – After we take in all the action from Group B, it won’t be too long before we turn our attention to the final games in Group A.

Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates face off against Palmeiras on their home turf, with both sides needing just a point to progress into the last 16. The Brazilian outfit, looking to join compatriots Botafogo in the next round, are yet to concede a goal in the tournament, the only team in their group who can boast that record.

FIFA Club World Cup: Inter Miami – Palmeiras (video preview) Flashscore

The pair kick off at 03:00 CET – listen live to the game from 02:55 CET.

Meanwhile, things are a little more dicey in the other game as Porto take on Al Ahly in New Jersey.

The Egyptian outfit has the smallest chance of making it through. They need to beat their Portuguese opponents and hope that Inter Miami take care of business against Palmeiras.

For Porto, their fate rests on the opposite outcome. A draw in this game will send both sides home.

Porto have never played competitively against African opposition, while Al Ahly have lost both of their prior CWC H2Hs against European sides, most recently a 4-1 reversal in the 2023 semi-final against Real Madrid.

23:02 CET – All over in California as, despite a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, Botafogo are through to the knockout rounds of the Club World Cup.

Their defensive rearguard kept Atleti at bay for much of the game, seeing the Brazilians into second spot in the group as the first big European giants fall in the US.

Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the game, but it was all a little too late.

The results confirm that PSG go through as Group B winners.

22:51 CET – Hold the phone, are we about to witness a miracle? Probably not, but Antoine Griezmann scores for Atletico Madrid to take the lead against Botafogo. A neat finish, but they need two more with time running out. Three minutes plus stoppage time in Pasadena.

22:47 CET – It’s getting desperate for Atletico now with six minutes to go, as Antoine Griezmann – their liveliest player in the second half – flicks a shot into the side netting.

22:44 CET – Despite heading out of the Club World Cup, Seattle Sounders are still defending for their lives as Nouhou clears one off the line from PSG. It’s been a valiant display from the outmatched MLS side.

22:41 CET – Into the final stages in Group B as Botafogo look set to top it with seven points, whilst PSG are almost certain to finish second with six.

Is there still time for a dramatic conclusion?

22:31 CET – Stunning work from Botafogo sees Igor Jesus get a shot on target from a whipped cross, only to see Jan Oblak pull off a great save to keep it goalless. If that goes in, Atletico are surely dead and buried in the Club World Cup. Remember, they need three goals in 22 minutes to get through.

22:25 CET – Antoine Griezmann provides Atletico’s best chance of the game so far, hitting the post from a tight angle. They still need three goals to progress from Group B, as Botafogo look happy to play for the draw.

Meanwhile, any hope of Seattle Sounders doing Atleti any favours are up in smoke as Achraf Hakimi has doubled PSG’s lead in the 67th minute – his first goal in the tournament.

22:21 CET – Plenty of pressure from Atletico on the Botafogo goal, but nothing doing for the Spanish side with goalkeeper John hardly making a save so far.

Here is how the momentum of the game has looked so far.

Atletico Madrid – Botafogo momentum Opta by StatsPerform

22:15 CET – Big chance for PSG to double their lead over Seattle Sounders. Great work from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sees the winger Senny Mayulu, but he sees his shot blocked.

22:10 CET – A delayed start to the action at the Rose Bowl after that lengthy time added on at the end of the first half.

One change for Atletico Madrid as Antoine Griezmann comes on for Conor Gallagher, whilst Botafogo are unchanged.

22:05 CET – Back underway in Seattle as the hosts look for a way back into the game against PSG. Looking at the momentum chart from the first half, it feels like a tall order.

21:47 CET – A VAR check for an Atletico Madrid penalty is sent to the screen for the referee to check, and, incredibly a free-kick to Botafogo is given after a foul by Alexander Sorloth. A very harsh call, as would have been the penalty.

Meanwhile, PSG and Seattle have reached half-time with the Parisiens 1-0 to the good.

PSG – Seattle match stats Opta by StatsPerform

21:41 CET – With the goal for PSG, it’s even more imperative that Atletico Madrid find their shooting boots against Botafogo.

Julian Alvarez finds himself with space inside the box, but he skews his shot just wide of the mark.

21:35 CET – PSG are ahead against Seattle Sounders!

A corner falls to the edge of the box and Vitinha, whose shot goes through a crowd of players into the back of the net. The goal is given to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who got the last touch.

As it stands, it’s PSG and Botafogo heading through from Group B.

21:30 CET – PSG have their best passage of play against Seattle Sounders as they work an opening for Desire Doue, but his effort is tame and easily saved by Stefan Frei.

21:27 CET – Back to the Rose Bowl, where Julian Alvarez goes down looking for a penalty, but the referee waves it away, and replays show that he was already going down before any contact.

A frustrating start to the game for Atletico Madrid, with Botafogo defending stoutly once again.

Robin Le Normand and Jefferson Savarino battle for the ball Patrick T Fallon / AFP

21:18 CET – Over at a packed Lumen Field, it’s goalless between PSG and Seattle with the MLS side doing their best to press the Champions League winners. They nearly take advantage of a big mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma, who loses the ball on the edge of his box, but striker Jesus Ferreira can only blaze over.

Huge moment for the Sounders.

21:08 CET – It will be an uphill battle for Atletico Madrid, who more than likely need three goals against Botafogo to progress.

They have started strongly, but Jefferson Savarino has had a break for the Brazilian side, Jan Oblak making the save.

It’s a little cooler today at the Rose Bowl with the thermometer reading 24C, but that won’t help the Madrid side in their pursuit of victory.

21:00 CET – Here we go then, we are underway in Group B’s final games.

Seattle – PSG match preview Flashscore

17:55 CET – We’re a little over three hours away from our first matches of the day at the Club World Cup, as Group B draws to a fascinating conclusion!

Surprise leaders Botafogo – fresh from a superb victory over PSG last time out – take on Atletico Madrid in California at 21:00 CET, knowing a draw will be enough to guarantee their place in the last 16 as group winners.

As for Diego Simeone’s men, they have the worst goal difference of the top three (-2) after a heavy defeat to PSG on matchday one, so will need a convincing victory to stand a realistic chance of progressing to the knockouts.

Meanwhile, kicking off at the same time in Seattle, PSG take on hosts Seattle Sounders, with Luis Enrique’s side needing a victory to seal their spot in the last 16.

The European champions are overwhelming favourites for the contest, as bottom-of-the-table Sounders remain without a point from their opening two group fixtures.

Liam Delap scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win. The 22-year-old moved to the club earlier this month from Manchester United. The win puts Chelsea into the knockout stages of the World Cup. The result means they will play either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the final.

Striker Liam Delap scored his first Chelsea goal as the Blues qualified for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup with a win over ES Tunis.

The 22-year-old scored with a placed shot deep into first half added time to get off the mark after his £30m move from Ipswich earlier this month.

It came just two minutes after defender Tosin Adarabioyo headed in a free-kick from Enzo Fernandez to open the scoring.

Substitute Tyrique George added a late third with practically the last kick of the match n front of 32,967 fans at Lincoln Financial Field.

Manager Enzo Maresca’s team selection appeared to be impacted by the extreme temperatures in Philadelphia, which still ‘felt like’ 36C by the 9pm kick-off because of the humidity.

The Italian made eight changes and rested star forward Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s top scorer in the competition Pedro Neto, and record signing Moises Caicedo.

Maresca rang further changes during a flat second half as Chelsea eased away from an improbable upset against their African opponents, who came into the match needing a win to progress at Chelsea’s expense.

Victory means Chelsea progress as runners-up in Group D, behind winners Flamengo, to set up a last-16 meeting with Portuguese club Benfica.

Benfica beat Bayern Munich to progress into the Club World Cup last 16 as Group C winners amid sweltering temperatures in the United States.

The match began at 3pm local time (20:00 BST) at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina with the temperature at 36C – and both sides were far from their best in the tough conditions.

Andreas Schjelderup scored the only goal in the 13th minute, with a low finish from 15 yards out after Fredrik Aursnes had done well and pulled the ball back into his path.

Victory means Portugal’s Benfica will play the Group D runners-up Chelsea.

Bayern had already qualified and boss Vincent Kompany made seven changes from the side that beat Argentina’s Boca Juniors 2-1 on Friday.

However, he brought on England captain Harry Kane, ex-Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Germany international Joshua Kimmich in a triple substitution at half-time in an attempt to get back into the match.

Kimmich thought he had equalised for the German side with a low 25-yard strike, but the goal was ruled out for offside, with Kane deemed to be obstructing the view of goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin.

Bayern were the better team in the second half as Aleksandar Pavlovic had an effort saved and Leroy Sane missed two late opportunities, but they could not find an equaliser and had to settle for second place in the group.

Antonio Rudiger was allegedly racially abused by Pachuca captain Gustavo Cabral in Real Madrid’s 3-1 Club World Cup win earlier today.

Rudiger alerted referee Ramon Abatti to the alleged comment during second-half stoppage time and the match official subsequently performed FIFA’s protocol gesture to signal alleged racial abuse.

Cabral denied making a racist comment, saying after the match: “It was a fight, we collided, he said that I hit him with my hand and then there was an argument and the referee made the sign of racism. In Argentina we say “cagon de mierda” (a profanity used to call someone a coward) all the time. I told him the same thing.”

Rudiger’s representative says the Madrid defender rejects Cabral’s explanation. The Athletic has contacted FIFA for comment.

Speaking earlier, Madrid manager Xabi Alonso said: “Toni has told us something, the FIFA protocol is activated and an investigation is under way. We believe him. It is unacceptable.”

It came towards the end of the Spanish club’s 3-1 win, with Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Fede Valverde scoring the goals after an early red card for Raul Asencio.

England captain Harry Kane had a hand in both goals to help Bayern Munich beat Boca Juniors and reach the Club World Cup knockout stages.

Striker Kane opened the scoring on 18 minutes by stroking home from 10 yards, before Miguel Merentiel converted a delightful equaliser in the second half.

With six minutes remaining, Kane poked the ball into the path of former Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, who netted the winner with a cool, side-footed finish from the edge of the area.

A point for Vincent Kompany’s side in the final group game against Benfica will guarantee top spot and a possible last-16 meeting with Chelsea – if the Blues progress in second place.

Enzo Maresca’s side are currently second after their 3-1 defeat by Flamengo on Friday.
