Kansas City’s 18th & Vine open business spaces hold tour
Kansas City is looking to draw in new tenants to several business spaces in the 18th & Vine District. The city extended the deadline for Request for Proposals until Aug. 8, giving interested entrepreneurs and business owners more time to put together plans and consider the location. Four spaces are available: Restaurant and bar space, 6,485 square feet, formerly Soiree Restaurant1704 E. 18th St. – Retail or office space, 1,500 square feet. 1708 E. 17th St – Retail and office space,. 1,300 square feet1710-1712 E.18th St – Retail and/or office space. There is no set cost for any of the spaces; prices will be up for negotiation. Along with efforts to fill the spaces, the city is also working to make the area safer with new security cameras and lights around 18th and Vine, “What we are trying to do is make a jazz district like it should be,” said Ashley Wise, the real estate manager.

Prospective tenants and community members were invited to tour the open sites on Friday. Interested guests packed the spaces, checking out what could be their new brick and mortar. Four spaces are available: 1512 E. 18th St. – Restaurant and bar space, 6,485 square feet, formerly Soiree Restaurant1704 E. 18th St. – Retail or office space, 1,500 square feet, formerly the Cherish the Cakes space1708 E. 18th St. – Retail or office space, 1,300 square feet1710-1712 E. 18th St. – Retail or office space, two storefronts totaling 2,600 square feet The city said that there is no set cost for any of the spaces; prices will be up for negotiation. “The city is definitely trying to revitalize the 18th & Vine district. It’s very, very important to the community and these spaces,” said Ashley Wise, the city’s real estate manager. “Sitting vacant is, definitely not helping. We want to create more foot traffic and revitalize the area and make a jazz district like it should be.” Along with efforts to fill the spaces, the city is also working to make the are safer. The city is installing new security cameras and lights around 18th & Vine. “What we’re looking at is making it brighter, more vibrant and safer,” said Joe Williamson, director of the public safety task force. “So we’re looking at any security measures.” Proposals must be submitted through the city’s online platform Bonfire.
