When Matt Felser and his partner Dave Ramsay founded DM Vans in 2018, they set out to build campers. Their goal wasn’t to follow a trend. It was to start something new.

“Everything you need, and nothing you don’t,” founder Felser said.

DM Vans’ philosophy never wavers — it’s focusing on what the customers need.

The Rifle-based company designs and builds every vehicle in-house. Armed with a team of experts and 650 vans on the road, DM Vans have grown into one of the leading forces behind the van life movement, always striving to help people hit the road in comfort and make their lives easier.

Unlike larger RVs, these compact lifestyle vehicles fit into a standard parking space. Other essentials include kitchens, convertible beds, and toilets.

“We were the only company doing this when we started. Now we’re the ones to look to,” Felser added.

The difference with DM Vans versus many on the market is that they are not simply a van for vacations, but a utility vehicle that can become a home.

DM Vans is stepping into the national spotlight with a feature on “Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid,” which aired June 9, as well as a special prime-time commercial that initially aired June 18 and can be viewed on YouTube.

“Van life has become normalized,” Felser said. “It’s about reducing what you own, so that you can live how you want.”

During the episode on “Viewpoint,” personal stories are shared of people operating DM Vans to reduce the cost of mountain-town living, weekend escapes, or traveling to bucket list destinations.

The company employs more than 15 people and sources from Colorado suppliers in Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, and Denver.

Matt says that part of what sets DM Vans apart is their full-service approach, offering a 20-year RV financing option, regardless of whether the purchase is for full-time living, weekend travel, or even a side hustle like mobile photography.

As summer kicks into high gear, more and more people are trying van life. National Go RVing Day is now a holiday every June 14, spotlighting how RVing is growing nationwide.
