Overview of the CASH Program

Welcome to the official webpage for MSHA’s Compliance Assistance in Safety and Health (CASH) program. This initiative is MSHA’s proactive response to the anticipated surge in U.S. domestic mining productivity, driven by the national demand for critical minerals as outlined in Executive Order 14154, “Unleashing American Energy.” MSHA is dedicated to ensuring that new and expanding mining operations are not only productive but, more importantly, safe and healthy.

The CASH program is focused on helping:

New mine operators

Inexperienced miners (less than one year of experience)

Newly hired experienced miners

Mining can be dangerous—especially for new operations and inexperienced workers. CASH helps the mining community “CASH in” on safety and health by making compliance simpler, clearer, and more accessible from the start
