Brand-new concept art for the cancelled Batman game that would have starred Damien Wayne as the Dark Knight has been shared, giving us a good look at an older Bruce.

As anyone who is still pining after Lego James Bond and Star Wars 1313 is no doubt aware of, there are tons of cancelled video games out there that we wish saw the light of day. Warner Bros. and DC are very familiar with this feeling, as Monolith’s Wonder Woman game recently confirmed earlier this year.

Although I would have killed to see a Wonder Woman take on the Nemesis System, that’s not the saddest cancelled DC game out there. No, that honour goes to Warner Bros. Montreal’s Project Sabbath, which would have starred Bruce’s son Damien as the new Dark Knight of a distant Gotham City.

Thanks to the internet and former Warner Bros. Montreal developers, we’ve seen plenty of Project Sabbath over the years. Well, as reported by MP1st and originally shared by Twitter user ArkhamVideos, we’ve now got a brand-new look at what the cancelled Batman game might have looked like.

The concept art comes from Warner Bros Montreal character artist Rodrigue Pralier and shows us perhaps the most developed version of Project Sabbath so far. Instead of concept art, this time around we get in-game models for several of the game’s characters, including an unmasked Damien Wayne.

Here’s your depressing reminder that Project Sabbath was cancelled for Gotham Knights.

As well as the new Batman, the models also show off an older Bruce Wayne, who is equipped with a cane just like in Batman Beyond. Project Sabbath would have also featured Killer Croc and The Huntress according to these models, as we can see them on the ArtStation profile for Pralier.

Interestingly, the concept art for Killer Croc in particular seems to suggest that Project Sabbath wasn’t in the same universe as the Arkham games, as he’s got a very different look than his established one in that series. Here, he looks a little more human with crocodile scales instead of the more animistic version.
