Crane collapses at Health First’s new hospital construction site on Merritt Island
A crane collapsed Wednesday, June 4 at the construction site of the new Cape Canaveral Hospital on Merritt Island. Two workers were killed in the accident. The fallen crane crushed a blue truck at the Construction site of a new Health First hospital. The accident happened at a construction site for a new hospital on the Florida island. The hospital is being built by Health First and will be called Cape Canaveral Medical Center. It is expected to be completed by the end of the year. It will be the first hospital of its kind in the state of Florida. The construction site is located on the island’s north coast. It’s expected to cost $1.5 million to $2 million to build. The first phase of the hospital will be completed in the spring of 2015. The second phase will be complete in the summer of 2015, with a third phase to follow in the fall. The third phase will include a fourth and final phase of construction. The fourth phase will take place in the winter of 2015 and 2016.
