Albert Tinney IV served as a firefighter with the Center Point Fire Department from 2021 until his death in May 2024, which is when he lost his battle with mental health.

The workout event raised money for the Heal the Hero Foundation, an organization that supports first responders by providing mental health resources.

Compton emphasized the importance of looking out for first responders, who spend most of their time looking after others.

“My brother was a fireman, my dad is a fireman, most of my friends are firemen and a lot of times, they’re checking in on everybody else, but not checking in on themselves,” said Compton.

CrossFit Trussville shared in a Facebook post that there was a great turnout at the event.

“Thank you to every athlete who showed up and gave full effort. And thank you to everyone who helped organize, support, and be part of something bigger than a workout. This is what community looks like and your support matters,” wrote CrossFit Trussville.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, you can always call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988. Help is available 24/7.
