In “Podcast 55- Using the Teach-Back Method to Improve Patient Understanding,” experts from Case Western Reserve University joined the Ohio Cardiovascular and Diabetes Health Collaborative (Cardi-OH) for a podcast discussion.

Sonal Patil and Colin Crowe—assistant professors at the School of Medicine—and Esther Thatcher, adjunct assistant professor at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, discussed the benefits of the teach-back method to overcome low health literacy and improve disease self-management, health outcomes and patient satisfaction. During their discussion, they weighed in on demonstrated how to effectively implement the teach-back method in a primary care setting.
