Cyberpunk 2077’s new update will have “scope similar” to 2.2, as CD Projekt announces delay
Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 update was due for release on 26th June. But CD Projekt has said it needs “more time” to make sure it is happy. The team said it will “update [us] further as soon as we can” The 2.2 update was released towards the end of last year.
This update was casually announced earlier this month, when CD Projekt revealed “we are planning another part for the game”. At this time, the update was slated for a 26th June release, with more details to come closer to that date.
However, with three days to go before that aforementioned release, CD Projekt has said it needs “more time” to make sure it is totally happy with it.
“We’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2,” the Cyberpunk 2077 team wrote on social media. Thanking the community for its patience, the developer said it will “update [us] further as soon as we can”, so stay tuned.
Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update was released towards the end of last year, and included various new features and quality of life improvements, as well as what the developer teased as “secrets”. These, it turns out, included a little nod to Balatro. I wonder what the team’s next update will include…
Rumours that Cyberpunk 2077 would be getting more content started making the rounds earlier this month, when a LinkedIn post from a developer at Virtuous was circulated online. This post said the developer was working on Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, something that hadn’t been announced yet.

As for Cyberpunk 2077 in the here and now, it is available on Switch 2. Our pals at Digital Foundry have taken the game out for a spin on the Switch 2 already, asking the question: Can the new Nintendo console handle it?
Cyberpunk 2077’s Big New 2.3 Update Delayed
Cyberpunk 2077’s next big update, 2.3, is not going to launch on time. Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the studio needs “some more time to make sure we’re happy with it” The 2.2 update added more cars, more instances of Johnny Silverhand showing up, an overhaul to the photo mode, upgraded character customization, and lots of secrets. The game launched in December 2020 in a rough state, but that didn’t stop the game from selling 13.7 million copies in just a few weeks.
The developer also teased that update 2.3 is aiming to have a scope around the same as the 2.2 update. That’s saying something, as the 2.2 update–released in December 2024–was a huge one. “We appreciate your patience!” the developer said.
Hey chooms,
We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it — we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can!

Most people thought CD Projekt Red was finished supporting Cyberpunk 2077 and shifting its teams to Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4, but in early June, the Polish studio confirmed the 2.3 update. As of yet, however, there is no word on what’s included in the 2.3 update.
Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update added more cars, more instances of Johnny Silverhand showing up, an overhaul to the photo mode, upgraded character customization, and lots of secrets that CD Projekt didn’t reveal and left for players to discover on their own.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 in a rough state, but that didn’t stop the game from selling 13.7 million copies in just a few weeks to become instantly one of the best-selling RPGs in history. CD Projekt Red patched and improved the experience over the years, culminating in the 2.0 update that served as re-launch of sorts for the game. The Phantom Liberty expansion starring Idris Elba came out in September 2023, and the game has now sold more than 30 million copies.
A sequel, Cyberpunk 2, is now in development, though the majority of CD Projekt Red’s staffers are focused on The Witcher 4 at the time being.
Most recently, CD Projekt Red launched Cyberpunk 2077 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Getting the game to run on Nintendo’s console wasn’t as challenging as the studio had anticipated. Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be the best-selling Switch 2 game at launch not made by Nintendo, according to a report.
